The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade felt extra magical for me this year!

As a “Fairy Ear Mother,” nothing makes me happier than watching my little “EarLings” shine! ✨💖

EJAE came to NYSH this fall through for her first set of ear monitors as she stepped into her solo career. She was sweet, gracious, grounded, & excited about everything ahead of her (and truly stunning — inside and out!).

Fast forward just a few months…
A successful talk-show circuit.
A gorgeous solo release that put her “In Another World.”
And then — there she was — performing in full sparkle on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade stage! 🌟

And as if that wasn’t magical enough…
A few minutes later I caught her featured in a holiday commercial launching the season.
My heart. 💗✨

I am so incredibly happy for her — and unbelievably proud of her journey!
Watching artists step into their own sparkle — and knowing I had even a small role in turning on the light — is my greatest joy.

I love the Thanksgiving Day parade! The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade bottles up magic from the entire year and releases it into the world—but the magic actually begins long before the parade.

It begins when Macy’s starts dressing for the holidays—a reminder that the season of hope, belief, and gratitude is right around the corner. The lights reflect possibility and promise.

This year, on the side of the store facing Herald Square, one message sparkles above the rest:

“Give Love.”

The world has been complex, challenging, and disappointing at times. To give—and to receive—love is the greatest gift we have. It is what propels us into the hope of a better tomorrow.
In our darkest moments, hope is possible because of love.
Love helps us imagine a future filled with happiness, kindness, and growth.

Show love.
Give love.
Have love.
And—as they sing in Rent—“measure a life in love”.
Love is the light that shines in the dark.

I’ve had the privilege of evaluating so many veterans—hearing their stories, helping with service-related challenges, and feeling like I can finally serve my country too. (My own service was halted by a GI disorder—a story for another day.)

From WWII through the War on Terror and beyond, each veteran reminds me why this work matters.

But my favorite heroes are close to home—my dad, who served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era, and my grandfather, a bombardier navigator in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Their stories shaped my life—and maybe explain why I’m drawn to aircrafts, whether I’m jumping out of them or learning to pilot a single engine piper. It’s in my blood. ✈️

Today and every day, I salute all who’ve served—thank you for your courage, your sacrifice, and the freedom you’ve given us to soar. ❤️🤍💙
