When you carve up your pumpkin this Halloween, take the seeds out, wash and dry them. Add salt, pepper, paprika and roast at 350 for 15 min. Soo good.

1. Strengthens the Spleen and Stomach
    •    Helps improve digestion, supports weak appetite, bloating, loose stools, and fatigue.
    •    Excellent for people with Spleen Qi deficiency — pale complexion, tiredness, and poor digestion.

2.    Transforms Dampness and Reduces Phlegm
    •    Useful for damp accumulation symptoms like heaviness, sluggishness, or mucus congestion.
    •    Especially good in late summer or early fall when dampness and phlegm are common.

3.    Promotes Detoxification
    •    Traditionally believed to help remove toxins and reduce swelling or inflammation.
    •    Used in cases of skin sores or snake/insect bites (in folk medicine).

4.    Supports Blood and Qi
    •    The sweetness tonifies Qi, while its orange flesh nourishes the Blood and supports energy after illness or childbirth.

5.    Harmonizes and Soothes
    •    Its warm, sweet nature helps calm the middle jiao, easing abdominal pain or cramps due to cold or deficiency.

Best use!
    •    Pumpkin soup with a bit of ginger for digestive weakness

I know Peppers are more late summer but these were still beautiful at my farmers market .

1. Warms the Yang and Dispels Cold
• Red peppers invigorate Yang Qi and warm the interior, especially in cold climates or during winter.
• Beneficial for people who easily feel cold, have poor circulation, cold hands and feet, or cold-type digestive pain.
• Used for cold-damp arthritic pain and stagnation from cold.

2. Invigorates Blood and Moves Qi
• The red color and spicy nature promote movement of Qi and Blood, preventing stagnation.
• Helps relieve pain, menstrual cramps, and muscle tension due to Cold Stagnation.
• In small amounts, it supports circulation and can bring a healthy glow to the complexion.

3. Stimulates Digestion and Appetite
• Red pepper activates the Stomach Yang and digestive Fire, improving appetite and metabolism.
• Supports the Spleen and Stomach in transforming food and fluids.

4. Brightens the Shen (Spirit)
• The red color resonates with the Heart and Shen (spirit).
• In moderate use, red pepper can uplift mood, dispel emotional Cold (apathy, sluggishness, low motivation), and enhance vitality.
• Symbolically and energetically, it “brings warmth to the Heart.”

5. Resolves Dampness
• Its heat helps dry Dampness and stimulate circulation in those with heaviness, bloating, or sluggish digestion.

Is it broccoli ? Is it cauliflower? It's Romanesco season. You don't hear that everyday. So good and really easy to enjoy. Roast it with salt pepper and olive oil . Delicious.

Functions and Energetics

1. Clears Heat and Promotes Detoxification
• Like other cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage), Romanesco helps clear mild Heat and resolve toxins from the body.
• Useful for skin eruptions, mild inflammation, or after febrile illness to cool and cleanse.

2. Transforms Phlegm and Regulates Qi
• Its slightly bitter flavor helps to descend Lung Qi and reduce Phlegm accumulation, especially when caused by Heat or Damp-Heat.
• Beneficial for a feeling of fullness in the chest, mild cough with yellow phlegm, or sluggish digestion.

3. Strengthens the Spleen and Aids Digestion
• The sweet flavor supports the Spleen and harmonizes the middle jiao.
• Good for mild bloating, poor appetite, or loose stools from Spleen Qi deficiency.

4. Moves Liver Qi Gently
• Its shape and sulfur compounds give it a mild dispersing action, helping ease stagnation, irritability, or tension related to the Liver Qi.

5. Supports Blood and Yin
• The rich green color (Wood element) and nutrient density suggest a mild Yin and Blood-nourishing quality — particularly helpful for those recovering from illness or fatigue
