For immediate release: Community Unites for Second Annual Walk to End Intimate Partner Violence in Durham Region

Why we walk:
Every year, thousands in our community are impacted by the devastating reality of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). In Durham Region alone, rates of IPV remain alarmingly high, leaving lives shattered and futures stolen. We walk to honour survivors, remember those we have lost, and unite for change. Our goal is to raise awareness, break the silence, and take action toward ending this epidemic once and for all.

This is a FREE event and donations to the organizing non-profits are welcome, every dollar helps us provide life-saving services.

Hypervigilance: A Survivor’s Song

They say, “time heals all wounds.”
But tell me — how do you heal a wound that never stops scanning the room?
When every footstep echoes louder than thunder,
When every silence feels like lightning waiting to strike?

Domestic violence isn’t just bruises.
It’s the heartbeat that sprints without a race,
The eyes that never stop searching for exits,
The body that never fully rests.

Hypervigilance —
it’s a soldier’s stance in a civilian world.
It’s armor forged from fear,
yet carried like a crown of survival.

And here’s the truth:
you didn’t choose this war.
But you chose to live.
You chose to breathe through nights that tried to steal your air.
You chose to rise,
when the ground begged you to stay down.

So listen —
to my sisters, my brothers, my warriors of silent battles:
That edge you carry?
That radar always on?
It is not your shame.
It is your body’s love letter to your life —
screaming, “I will not let you be undone.”

But there comes a time to teach the body peace.
To show your nervous system that the war is over.
To rest the armor on the floor,
and let trust tiptoe back into your bones.

Truth.
Undeniable Vision.
Focus.
Flow.

This is the Tuff Method,
and this is the bridge back to you.
Not forgetting —
but forgiving yourself for surviving.
Not erasing —
but rewriting the ending with your own pen.

Fall has began which means I'm on a 3 month countdown for my donations to Denise House and still collecting donations.

No time like the present.

I am running a Toiletry and Gift Card donation for The Denise house for the upcoming holiday season.

I am looking to collect toiletries (full size) and gift cards suitable for children and young woman. Any denomination is not to small.

Examples of what is required at the shelter is:

Shampoo , Conditioner, Body Wash, Toothpaste, toothpaste brushes, Dental Floss, Hair Brushes, Deodorant and Sanitary products (no travel size)

As well as gift cards in any denomination to:

Walmart, Giant Tiger, Dollarama, Dollar Tree, Jysk, Canadian Tire, No Frills, Loblaws, FreshCo, Sobeys, Amazon, Old Navy, Shoppers Drug Mart, Presto Cards, Oshawa Center, and Michaels.

Restaurant Gift Cards (
McDonald's, Tim Horton's, Pizza Places, Dairy Queen, Jack Astor's, KFC, Subway, Wendy's and Ultimate Dining Cards

Great News - all of the above available on Amazon to order gift cards in any denomination.

As I too was a victim and I've in an undisclosed location, I am doing porch pick ups (Mon's and Fri's) or, if you PM me I will take a drop off after verifying my donor.

Please remember, NO denomination is too small as the woman and children all receive a Christmas.

They all require toiletries in the shelter.

I was "Love Bombed" by my offender until he had me manipulated, silenced me and caused seperation between family and friends.

This is how offenders, gender based violence, stalking and r**e occurs, when they have you so manipulated you don't know how to think for yourself and protect yourself.
