16 years later after starting this page, I feel like finally changes are being made! 🙌 this is a big win, and a precedent for what is to come:

Environmental groups, health advocates and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are on a mission to ban certain dyes from American foods.

*long post*

In 2009 I started this page. My goal was to share the importance of reading labels. The dangers of GMO foods, educate about Monsanto, pesticides, the many hidden names of sugar- and to that, how food can be your biggest poison, or your greatest healing source.

In 2014- after balancing a host of endocrine imbalances with food- I became a (geriatric) mom 😂 and for the last ten years I’ve turned my focus to that “job title” as it’s the most important one I could dream to have.

The irony however is that like many moms, as motherhood takes the toll on: time, resources, self care, bandwidth and beyond- my once iron clad conviction to ban industry foods wained.

While I still made the “best choice possible” (if you were ever my client, you know!) I also would often say to myself in moments of food shopping for my family “meh, I grew up with this xyz food, I know it’s yuck but it can’t be that bad”. After all, I would always also say the body is amazing and can process quite literally anything in moderation.

But folks- it IS that bad. I haven’t followed food policy for quite a bit (motherhood and pausing my services) but as I’m re entering this space I see the newest laws and labeling requirements that have snuck in over a decade and WOW….its no wonder we are sicker than ever as a nation.

With these tricky laws, processed foods are expanding into our homes and literally poisoning us. Hook line and sinker addictive ingredients.

The standard American LIFESTYLE and DIET is in peril. The human body can’t keep up. We were designed to detox and dispose what the body can’t use however the ingredients and frequency of consuming processed food are FaR more frankenfood then ever.

The food industry, the laws and loopholes that exist is just about criminal. But it starts with how the food is grown. Seed health, soil health and where it’s sourced. And it ends with lifestyle habits and retraining our relationship with food.

If you’ve been with me for the
Journey since 2009, you know my mantra was always KNOW WHERE YOUR FOOD comes from, support your local farms, Read ALL labels, and the further a food is from whole - the farther you should stay away from it before it wrecks havoc on your hormones, detox pathways, liver, digestion and your well being.

I’ll be combing through and simply reposting from 2009, expanding on this ever important messages as we move forward and as I once again open this platform and my business. It’s more important than it ever was.

I will always remain focused on helping women understand how FOOD is directly tied to their hormones. Fertility, cycles and nervous system. How FOOD is the source where we all need to begin.

I hope you share comment and share this page- welcome if your new…and a giant thank you for those who started this journey with me back in 2009 and are still here.

Version 2/ Chapter 2 of Medicinal Nutrition is going to be next level.

Cheers, to change and good health.

💯 but the far away land sounds great about now 😂

While we can’t all pack up and move to remote lands, growing our own food and herding sheep and goats, we can easily integrate these principles into our everyday lives for better health.

The food industry has imposed itself on our kitchens, providing an endless array of tantalizing colors, sizes, and shapes of addictive, processed food–like substances that drive our epidemic of chronic disease, obesity, and rapid aging.

We have lost our connection to the source of our food. We have lost ancient traditions. Cooking from scratch is a vanishing art.

The keys to health and longevity are found on the farm, at the grocery store, and in your kitchen.

I hope my new Young Forever Cookbook can help invigorate and inspire you to get in the kitchen to not only eat delicious food, but to gain health from these recipes. Available everywhere June 4, 2024. Pre-order at YoungForeverCookbook.com

So many people ask the difference between integrative/functional approaches vs. the traditional doctor they see on a regular basis for bloodwork, testing, check ups, etc. why are the programs within the integrative space not covered by insurance etc.

First to note: one is not better than the other. But here is one way to view the divergence in approach between them.

When you go to the doctor and the doctor says "everything is fine" (when you don’t feel fine) what they are saying is "you don't have a disease."

Doctors are highly trained to recognize and intervene with disease.
BUT there is a grey space between disease and not feeling well.
Diagnostic labs serve a function in particular situations, but not all.

Functional labs that are non diagnostic measure the "grey space" so you can intervene in the grey space.

The reason a lot of insurances do not cover functional labs is because they need a diagnosis code.

We change doctors, see specialists and usually our entire medical history isn't charted out and mapped year after year or reviewed thoroughly in the 15 minute appointment we get with them.

They might look at the year prior of lab work and say, "you are up from last year, or down from last year" but what if you've been slowly trending up under the radar for 20 years? Most dysfunction will show up in the blood, last.

When you are sick, having a baby, need emergency surgery or specific conditions, you need traditional medicine, it’s life-saving! I thank God for the medical doctors and heroes within that system.

I am simply ALSO saying that the traditional medical model outside of acute medical need described above is largely based on sick care and there are a lot of moving parts and diplomacy involved that don’t leave room for integrative prevention . A lot of traditional medical doctors would agree that they aren't trained in some things they feel that should have or wish they had been. This could be an OB, not highly trained in menopausal changes, Primary care docs not trained much at all in nutrition. Etc. Our system is silo’d. It’s volume and diagnostic coding within a 15 minute appointment to assess someone's health, insurance regulations and restrictions.

Just remember you are the CEO of your own health care. And if you are in a grey space finding a system isn't serving you, find one that will!
