For stubborn back or neck pain, I love to use electro-acupuncture. Gentle electric current makes the muscles engage, resetting muscle tension and allowing muscles to relax fully. Acupuncturists in NY got the green light today from the state to reopen without needing a physician's referral. and I have spent lots of time over the last few weeks putting together the safety plan for our space, acquiring special disinfectants and PPE, and creating protocols to keep our patients as safe as possible. We are really lucky that our space has two private treatment rooms, big windows for ventilation, and AC units that are not connected to any other office in our building.

I actually had to go to a doctor's office in person last week, and it felt way safer than going to a grocery store, because everyone in the office was wearing masks properly, and everyone was a stickler about social distancing and hand hygiene. We have learned a lot in the last couple of months about how to prevent transmission of Covid within healthcare settings. I feel really good about where we are in terms of reopening, without, of course, being cavalier about where we are with this virus. I am going to continue to practice stringent safety protocols and keep patient volume very low for now.
