At Precision Neuroscience, we’re partnering with leading physicians and institutions to develop Layer 7—with clinical collaboration at the center of everything we do. This model enables continuous performance refinement, rigorous safety validation, and real-world system integration.

To date, Layer 7 has been used in over 85 patients across diverse research and clinical settings. We’re proud to work alongside institutions that are pushing the boundaries of neuroscience and patient care.

Enrollment is now underway for studies in both acute intraoperative and extraoperative settings. Together, we’re accelerating discovery—and bringing the next generation of neurotech closer to patients.

"The goal is to have this technology available as part of the standard of care in a way that really touches people's lives and helps to heal. I think that is a palpable potential reality now."

Precision Neuroscience Co-founder Benjamin Rapoport joined Protocol Labs founder Juan Benet to talk about where BCIs actually stand today and what that means for medicine, AI, and everything in between.

Last week at the Milken Institute Global Conference, our Co-Founder and CEO Michael Mager sat down with Bloomberg Markets: The Close to talk about where Precision Neuroscience stands, where the market is going, and what it's going to take for the US to lead.

"There are around 6 million people globally who are completely tetraplegic — that's an addressable market in the hundreds of billions… The promise of brain-computer interfaces goes way beyond paralysis."

The brain controls everything; movement, speech, the ability to interact with the world. When disease disrupts that, the tools to restore the brain are still limited.

Today we're announcing a clinical research partnership with researchers at UChicago Medicine's Sensorimotor Bionics Group, focused on understanding how the brain controls movement and how to restore it when disease takes that away.

Precision's Layer 7™ sits on the brain's surface and records continuously at high resolution. AI decodes those signals into code that drives external devices — giving people alternatives to voluntary limb and speech control. What we learn from this work may also provide insight into restoring motor function For people with ALS, SCI and brainstem stroke, this work is about getting back what was lost.

The collaboration expands Precision's clinical research network, deepening investigation into AI-driven neural cursor control and neuroprosthetics...

A fundamentally new way to interface with the brain: Layer 7 is thinner than a human hair and is placed using a proprietary micro-slit incision technique — minimizing disruption while maximizing access. Designed to gently conform to the brain’s surface without penetrating it, the array represents a safer, more scalable approach to neural interfacing.

High-density electrodes both record and stimulate, enabling precise, bidirectional communication with the brain. The result: translating intention into action — turning the intent to type into typing, or the intent to speak into speech. Control of digital devices, powered by thought alone — this is the next generation of brain-computer interfaces.

The next frontier in neuroscience is multi-region, high-resolution brain access — and we’re building it.

Layer 7 is designed to scale into a whole-brain interface — unlocking access and understanding of the brain to treat neurological conditions and shape the future of AI and human-device interfaces. To truly unlock the promise of this technology, access matters. You need a way to interface with the full surface of the brain safely and effectively, without causing harm. That’s exactly what Layer 7 is built to do. This is about more than innovation — it’s about improving lives at scale.
