Something’s off with your skin, but you can’t tell what exactly. Well, there’s good chance that your skin barrier is compromised. If you’re new to skin care, allow me to explain. Your skin barrier is the outermost layer of your skin. Think of it as your body’s protective shield. Its job is to keep the good stuff in and the bad stuff out. It locks in water so your skin stays hydrated while also blocking irritants, bacteria, pollution etc. Additionally it keeps inflammation and sensitivity under control. Think of your skin barrier like a winter coat for your face. When it’s intact, you’re warm and protected. When it’s damaged, everything gets in and moisture leaks out. That’s when skin freaks out and starts to act strangely.
