And before you say it, I know. I know it feels ridiculous to talk about drinking water when everything feels like it is falling apart. I get it. I really do.

But here is something I need you to understand about what happens to a brain in crisis: your nervous system is in full survival mode right now. Fight, flight or freeze. And a nervous system in survival mode cannot think clearly, cannot problem solve, cannot see a way forward and cannot feel hope. That is not a character flaw. That is just biology.

So when I ask you if you slept last night I am not dismissing what you are going through. I am not minimizing your pain. I am not telling you that a glass of water is going to fix everything. I am trying to help your body come down from the ledge just enough so that your brain can start to work with me instead of against you.

Crisis stabilization starts with the body. Always. That is not the whole answer but it is always the first step.
If you are in crisis right now or you love someone who is, please know that help exists and it works. You do not have to figure this out alone.

You are not too much. You are not too far gone. You are just a human being who needs support right now and that is exactly what we are here for.

Can we normalize this question for a second?

"How do I know when it's time to reach out for therapy?"

So many people assume therapy is only for when things have completely fallen apart. Like you have to hit some kind of rock bottom before you're allowed to ask for help.

But that's not how it works.

Therapy can be for the version of you that's just... tired. Overwhelmed. Stuck in the same patterns and not sure how to get out. Feeling like you're holding it all together on the outside but barely keeping up on the inside.

You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is reach out before things get harder, not after.
If you've been on the fence about starting therapy, consider this your sign.

Burnout doesn't always look like falling apart.

Sometimes it looks like getting through the day but feeling nothing while you do it.
It looks like snapping at people you love over something small and then feeling awful about it. Lying awake exhausted but unable to actually rest. Going through the motions and wondering why everything feels so heavy lately.

If any of this sounds familiar, you might be experiencing emotional burnout. And it makes complete sense if you are — because you've probably been carrying a lot for a long time.

Here's what burnout can actually feel like:

emotionally drained or just... numb
can't focus or find motivation for anything
irritable over things that wouldn't normally bother you
exhausted but can't sleep or truly relax
disconnected from yourself or the people around you

Burnout isn't a personal failure. It's what happens when stress builds and builds without enough space to rest, process, or recover.

The good news? It doesn't have to stay this way.

Support, rest, and small shifts in how you care for yourself can genuinely make a difference. And therapy can be a space to finally slow down, feel like yourself again, and figure out what you actually need.

You've been strong for a long time. It's okay to ask for help now.

The amount of times I’ve heard this in my office… 👀

Let’s talk about it. Bipolar disorder is often a misunderstood mental health condition and this myth is one of the most dangerous ones floating around.

Could someone technically white-knuckle through without medication? Maybe, temporarily. But bipolar disorder is a psychiatric disorder and the brain literally processes mood regulation differently. Therapy alone, supplements alone, “good vibes only” alone… none of that rewires brain chemistry.

What I do believe? Medication works best alongside therapy. That’s where the real transformation happens — understanding your triggers, building your toolkit, and actually living your life instead of just surviving it.

If you’ve been told to just “try harder” or “sleep more” and call it managed, you deserve better care than that.

Bipolar disorder is often misunderstood and that misunderstanding can make it harder for people to seek the support they deserve.

It's more than mood swings. It's a complex mental health condition that involves significant shifts in mood, energy, and functioning that can deeply affect daily life.

With the right support and understanding, many people living with bipolar disorder are able to manage their symptoms and build stable, meaningful lives.

If you or someone you love is experiencing mood changes that feel overwhelming, reaching out to a mental health professional can be a meaningful first step. Click the link in our bio to see how we can support you.

You may have heard the term "high-acuity care" but what does it actually mean?

High-acuity care is support for people experiencing more severe or complex mental health challenges which could include those stepping down from higher levels of care like:
Inpatient psychiatric settings
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)

During this transition, individuals may benefit from more frequent therapy, structured support, and coordinated care as they continue stabilizing and adjusting to daily life.

The goal of high-acuity care is to provide continued support, helping people maintain progress, build coping strategies, and reduce the risk of relapse.

Stepping down from a higher level of care takes courage and you don't have to do it alone.

Sometimes teens say “I’m fine” even when something deeper is going on.

As a parent, your instinct to check in matters.
Changes in mood, behavior, sleep, or communication can sometimes signal that a teen may need additional support.

It’s not about overreacting.

It’s about paying attention and creating space for conversation.

When teens feel safe talking about what they’re going through, it can make a meaningful difference in how they navigate challenges.
