Jessica provides individual psychotherapy utilizing psychodynamic therapy, internal family systems, and CBT to bring to light unconscious beliefs around the self while providing a supportive, non-judgmental space.
Her expertise is working with life transitions specifically with young adults transitioning to full adulthood and adults transitioning to an elderly identity. Her clinical work experience has focused in the areas of grief support and elder care. This has been instrumental in developing my understanding and skills to work with lifespan development. In addition, I have some specific interest in OCD, supporting clients with behavioral tools as well as treating more holistically
Jessica works with clients virtually and in our Flatiron office. Please feel free to reach out to jessica@steadynyc.com with any questions.

If this is your first time talking with a counselor or beginning any kind of therapy, you may be curious. Maybe even a little scared or uncertain what to expect. Be assured, we are not here to judge. We are here to help.
At Kathryn Grooms & Associates Psychotherapy, we believe everyone has the capacity to grow, change, and heal. Our team of professional therapists are trauma-informed, which means they are specially trained to approach every therapy session holistically, with a deep understanding of the emotional, biological, social, and psychological effects of trauma. You are the author of your life, but often there are obstacles or barriers to telling your story in a way that is authentic and real. Our work is focused on helping you identify and then remove these barriers and help you own your story. Each of our highly trained and credentialed therapists brings their own personal style, professional expertise, clinical interests, and specialties to the practice. Which means we can adjust and adapt our approach as needed to meet you where you are and provide the highest quality of therapy services to meet your unique needs. There is no one size fits all approach when it comes to psychotherapy or therapy services. We offer a personalized and customized approach with every client and each of our therapists is dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable environment where you’ll receive personalized care from skilled therapists so you can begin your path toward healing.
The relationship between you and your therapist is intended to be fluid and flexible. This flexibility gives you full freedom to talk about the issues or struggles that are most important to you. We recognize that, often, the reason you initially sought out therapy is just the tip of the iceberg. We’re not afraid to roll up our sleeves and dig a little deeper to go beyond the surface and get to the root of the problem or issue. We do this so we can learn more about your personal experiences, struggles, and pain, and most importantly, so we can gain a better understanding of what you hope to gain from therapy. At Kathryn Grooms Psychotherapy, we are fully committed to supporting your growth and empowering you with the tools to help you achieve the change you desire.
We welcome you wherever you may be on your journey of self-discovery. At every in-person or virtual therapy session, we work together with you to explore your emotional experience as well as the thoughts and behaviors that may be holding you back from living the life you desire. Our therapists collaborate with you to identify the change(s) you’re seeking in your life. Then, we introduce and empower you with specific tools you can use to build greater self-awareness and self-compassion as well as emotional resiliency and healing so you can move closer toward creating a more fulfilling life experience.
Beginning any kind of therapy is an exercise in vulnerability and trust. We honor and respect the idea that entering therapy and engaging in the process of self-reflection can be scary. Which is why we are committed to providing you with a warm, safe space where you can facilitate a deeper relationship with yourself. It is our sincere privilege to participate in the process of your healing and growth.
We’re glad you’re here and we look forward to working with you.
