Why are so many 20‑year‑olds starting to look older than their age?
I get this question often in my dermatology practice, and it’s time to discuss what’s causing it.
Modern routines are more aggressive. Retinoids, exfoliating acids, vitamin C, and multi‑step systems are being started at younger ages, layered more often, and without enough recovery time.
Retinol works, but it is not neutral. It increases cell turnover, and when skin is pushed to renew constantly, it’s never fully restored. This can lead to thinner skin, dull skin, irritation, and a tired look that reads as aging.
Add over‑cleansing and too many active ingredients, and even young skin can start to look overworked.
Healthy skin is not about constant stimulation. It is about balance and recovery.
If your skin feels irritated or tight, the answer may not be another serum. It may need a break.
Save this before you change your routine. Tell me if your skin has ever needed time to reset.

Red light masks are trending , but not for the same reasons everywhere.

In Seoul, it’s glass skin
In Paris, healthy glow
In New York, convenience. Healthy, radiant skin.
In Los Angeles, wellness culture and Dewy skin

Same technology. Different intentions.

As a board-certified dermatologist, what matters isn’t where red light therapy is trending, it’s how it’s used, how often, and what it’s replacing in your routine.

Red light can support skin health when used correctly.
But trends move faster than skin can recover.

Save this if you’re navigating red light masks, actives, or skin optimization , and follow for more quiet shifts in dermatology.

Red light therapy has been used safely in dermatology for decades.
But the way it’s being used today is quietly changing.
What was once delivered in controlled medical settings is now widely available as at-home red light masks, often used more frequently and without supervision.
And here’s the part many people miss:
Red light isn’t skincare. It’s energy delivered to the skin.
Like any medical energy-based treatment, outcomes depend on:
• dose
• frequency
• delivery method
With increased access comes increased risk of overexposure, which can lead to cumulative skin stress rather than rejuvenation.
This doesn’t mean red light therapy doesn’t work.
It means it should still be approached as a medical treatment, even at home.
Quiet shifts in dermatology matter.
Especially the ones happening outside the clinic.

Red light masks aren’t used the same way everywhere.

In my practice, and globally, I’ve noticed something interesting:
what people want from a red light mask changes by city.

In Seoul, it’s about glass skin and skin luminosity.
In Paris, it’s effortless glow.
In New York, efficiency and multitasking matter most.
In Lagos, even tone and safety lead the conversation.

Same technology.
Very different expectations.

This is why red light therapy isn’t just about the device, it’s about what you’re asking it to do, how consistently it’s used, and whether those expectations are even realistic.

Comment your city below and I’ll break down what people there are really looking for in a red light mask and what actually delivers results. More cities coming, comment the name of your city so I can include it in the next video

Melasma isn’t just pigment.
It’s a chronic skin condition shaped by invisible clinical details most people never mention.

In my Invisible Details in Melasma series, I’m sharing what I see in practice as a board-certified dermatologist, the factors that quietly determine whether melasma improves or worsens.

More products ≠ better outcomes.
Marketing noise often creates confusion and can trigger rebound pigmentation.

This series will help you think like a dermatologist, make safer decisions, and build a smarter melasma strategy.

Comment DETAILS if you want to understand melasma beyond the surface.

Brow shaping with Botox is one of the most misunderstood aspects of aesthetic treatment.

It’s not about chasing a “lift”, it’s about understanding facial muscle balance, brow depressors vs elevators, and how small placement decisions affect expression.

As a board-certified dermatologist, this is something I assess before placing a single unit.

When Botox is done without this framework, brows can look heavy, flat, or over-arched, even when the same toxin is used.

This is why technique matters as much as product.

Red light masks: medicine or marketing?

They’re everywhere — celebrities, athletes, viral videos.
But visibility isn’t the same as clinical results.

As a board-certified dermatologist, here’s the truth:
Red light therapy can work, when the right wavelength, dose, and delivery are used consistently.

Many at-home masks prioritize comfort and aesthetics over therapeutic energy.
That doesn’t make them useless, but it does change expectations.

This reel breaks down:
• what red light actually does in skin
• why some masks underperform
• when panels or in-office devices make more sense

Save this before buying one.

Expensive skincare. Wrong order. Zero results.

Most people don’t need more products,
they need the right skincare order.

As a board-certified dermatologist, I see this daily:
✨ powerful actives
✨ luxury serums
✨ medical-grade skincare

…applied in the wrong sequence = little results.

If you want clearer skin, better absorption, and visible results, the order matters just as much as the formula.

This post breaks down how to layer skincare correctly so your cleansers, serums, treatments, and moisturizers actually work with your skin , not against it.

Save this if you care about:
• skincare routine order
• how to apply skincare correctly
• medical-grade skincare results
• dermatologist skincare tips
• anti-aging + barrier repair
