Yes, your MRI may show a bulging disc, arthritis, or degenerative disc disease but that may not be the cause of your pain.

Imaging is good to have but as an acupuncturist, I don't fully rely on the results because pain is multifactorial.

MRI only captures anatomy. Not muscle tension, inflammation, stress levels, or how sensitive a person’s nervous system has become.

Sometimes it can’t fully explain why back pain is happening.

Because of this, pain should be managed by conservative treatments, such as acupuncture, first. If that isn't successful, more aggressive treatments should then be introduced. Not the other way around.

Discover why your MRI might not explain your back pain and how a holistic approach like acupuncture can offer relief beyond imaging results.

If you have musculoskeletal pain, the worse thing you can do is be still for too long.

Yes, resting is important for a short time, but moving promotes blood flow. An increase in blood flow brings nutrients to the area to promote faster healing.

If you're not active, walking is your best friend. Find a track, walking trail, treadmill, or simply walk around your neighborhood. You can walk around your block for just 20 minutes.

Also, get acupuncture! It's one of the best forms of medicine that promotes intrinsic healing. No pills, no injections, just working with what your body has already.

Don't fear pain, understand it and keep moving.

Many aches are not from bad joints or old age. Sometimes it's just a muscle knot causing that neck pain, back pain, or knee pain.

🎯 Wondering if acupuncture could help YOUR pain?

Here are 5 key signs that indicate your pain might respond beautifully to acupuncture treatment:

βœ… Your pain has been ongoing for months or years (chronic pain responds exceptionally well to acupuncture)

βœ… Conventional treatments haven't provided lasting relief (medications, PT, injections only offer temporary help)

βœ… Your pain gets worse during stressful times (acupuncture addresses the mind-body connection)

βœ… You have pain in multiple areas or "mysterious" pain (our holistic approach treats underlying patterns)

βœ… You want a natural, drug-free solution (no side effects, just your body's own healing power)

Read my full blog post to discover exactly how acupuncture works for each of these scenarios and what you can expect from treatment. Link in comments! πŸ‘‡

TIP: Wearing loose clothes to your acupuncture appointment makes it easier to access your arms, legs, and back. Tight clothing restricts your treatment.
