Posture is often treated like a simple fix:

“Sit up straight.”

But for many individuals navigating scoliosis, hyperkyphosis, postural changes, or post-fusion life… it’s often more complex than that.

Posture may involve:
✔️ Breathing awareness
✔️ Ribcage position
✔️ Weight shifting
✔️ Daily habits
✔️ Confidence
✔️ Movement patterns

And sometimes the constant pressure to “have perfect posture” can actually create more frustration or tension.

If you’ve had scoliosis fusion surgery and still feel:
- stiff
- tight and uneven

You are NOT failing your recovery.

So many post-fusion patients are told surgery was successful…
…but no one explains why you may still struggle with:
• tension
• shallow breathing
• fear around movement
• stiffness that feels confusing or discouraging

Here’s what I want you to know:

Your body changed.
Your breathing mechanics changed.
Your nervous system may still be protecting you.

That doesn’t mean you’re broken.
And it doesn’t mean this is “just how it is.”

If posture advice has only ever sounded like:
“Stand up straight.”
“Shoulders back.”
“Core tight.”

For many scoliosis and hyperkyphosis clients, aggressively pulling the shoulders back can actually create MORE compensation.

Real posture is:
Breath
Stacking
Expansion
Pressure management
Awareness

You do not need more tension.

Happy International Pilates Day 🤍✨

Today felt especially meaningful getting to celebrate movement, strength, and alignment by hosting my Strong & Stable Spine Workshop 🌴

Pilates has become such an incredible bridge in the work I do—helping people better understand their posture, breathing, core connection, and how to move with more confidence in the body they’re in.

Watching people show up for themselves today, learn, move, ask questions, and build awareness was such a reminder that this work is about so much more than exercise—it’s about empowerment. 💛

So grateful to for having me and to every person who spent part of their National Pilates Day investing in their spine, their strength, and their future.

Here’s to stronger bodies, better breathing, and finding alignment from the inside out. 🌿

Most people hear “your spine curves sideways” and imagine a simple C-shape.

That’s not actually the full picture.

Scoliosis is 3D.
That means side bend + rotation + structural adaptation.

So if you’ve been stretching randomly, strengthening generically, or “just watching it”…
You may be missing what your body actually needs.

Rotation changes:
— Rib position
— Breath mechanics
— Muscle strategy
— Postural compensation

This is why specificity matters.

Your body isn’t failing.
It needs a more accurate map.
