✨PPMNY in Action✨
🌱 Our volunteers joined the Interfaith Public Health Network for their food and nutrition lobbying day in Albany, talking to lawmakers about bills that could improve the quality of food throughout the state.
🌱 Older adults at a JASA center in Far Rockaway learned about healthy swaps for better aging with Natalie Zolotareva, RN, and Mayerlin Arias.
🌱 Dietitian Gail Mayer spoke on a panel about the importance of nutrient-dense foods to alleviate hunger and our volunteers connected with attendees at the Campaign Against Hunger’s Youth Leadership Conference.
🌱 Health coach Karla Salinari taught growers about the human and environmental benefits of plant-powered nutrition and Kele Nkhereanye gave a flavorful food demo at the NYC Parks national GrowTogether conference.
🌱 The Mount Vernon School District welcomed PPMNY’s Lianna Levine Reisner and chef Brandy Cochrane who taught about the role of dietary fat in common health conditions, like diabetes, and demoed an oil-free recipe.
🌱 New Jersey residents packed the Livingston Community Center for a lively plant-based potluck.
