Another illusion we've been conditioned to chase:
-Forgive and forget-
As if forgiveness is proof, we've moved on.
As if not forgiving means we're bitter, broken, stuck.
But here's the truth --
Sometimes, forgiveness becomes a bargain.
A rushed performance.
A mockery of the actual healing journey.
We are told:
"You should forgive for your soul."
But what if that forgiveness is forced, manipulated, or expected before we've even named the harm?
You do not owe peace to those who wounded you.
Not to prove you're better
Not to prove you healed.
Not to fit anyone's idea of what grace should look like.
Because real forgiveness?
It doesn't start with them.
It starts with you --
Forgiving yourself for believing you had to carry this in silence.
For thinking you were broken for not being ready.
For buying into the illusion that your healing had a deadline.
✨️ I do not owe peace to those who wounded me. I give it to myself when I am ready. ✨️
📌Save this if you've ever felt pressure to forgive before your soul was ready.
