I'm teaching a new workshop for mental health professionals with my friend and colleague Michael Mitchell on June 1! 4CE credits offered for NYS social workers and mental health professionals.

Please join us for an experiential workshop, Working with Memory in a Present Focused Therapy with Jennifer Griesbach, LCSW and Michael Mitchell, LCSW
Sunday, June 1, 2025 2pm-6pm
$95
In person at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy (GAP) offices 36 W 25th Street, 10th Floor, New York, New York, 10010

In this four-hour experiential and didactic workshop, Michael and Jennifer will explore questions around how we work with bodily process in psychotherapy with special attention to memory, personal history, and how past is present in the here and now relational work of Gestalt therapy. Based on the “Moving into Memory” chapter of Ruella Frank’s book The Bodily Roots of Experience in Psychotherapy, and working with ideas of time consciousness and kinetic-kinesthetic remembering, we will use experiments, teaching and discussion to go deeper into the theory and practice of working with memory as a function of present experience. This workshop is appropriate for gestalt therapists, therapists working in other relational, somatic modalities who are interested in learning more about Gestalt and Developmental Somatic psychotherapy, and for Gestalt therapists in training.

This event is eligible for 4 Continuing Education Contact Hours in NYS, see our website for more details: https://www.gestaltassociates.org/events-continuing-education

Sharing information on a study by, and about, adult transracial adoptees of color and mental health. I tried to add the flyer, but I'm having FB trouble, so I'm just going to paste in the description sent to me by one of the researchers, Molly Sawdy. If you want to see if you are eligible to participate, the eligibility survey is here: https://bit.ly/TRACMH

My name is Molly Sawdy and I am a clinical psychology doctoral candidate at Suffolk University. I identify as an international, Chinese transracial adoptee. I am recruiting participants for my dissertation study titled, A Mixed-Method Study Examining Stressors on Adult Transracial Adoptees of Color (TRAC) Mental Health [IRB #2250982-1].

Purpose of the Study: We are interested in better understanding how stressors such as racial microaggressions and adoption microaggressions affect the mental health of adult transracial adoptees of color. Although there is growing research on the experiences of adopted individuals, there are limited studies that center the mental health and wellness of transracial adoptees of color. We hope the information gathered from this study will be used to bolster the development of culturally responsive assessment tools and interventions, and to inform the development of resources and training to foster cultural humility for therapists providing services to transracial adoptees of color. We are hoping to recruit a target sample of 100 participants.

Eligibility Criteria:
(1) Age 18 or older, (2) Self-identifying as a transracial adoptee (i.e., belonging to a different racial category of adoptive parent(s)), (3) Identify as a person of color, and (4) Internationally adopted to or domestically adopted in the United States.

If you meet the above criteria, please consider taking the eligibility survey: https://bit.ly/TRACMH

Participants who complete the online survey will have the opportunity to: (1) enroll in a raffle to win 1 of 20, $25 gift cards, and (2) participate in a virtual focus group aimed to better understand experiences of microaggressions for adult transracial adoptees of color.

If you do not meet study criteria, please consider sharing the attached flyer and eligibility survey link with your network.

Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

Warmly,
