Srecna Nova 2021. Hristos se Rodi.
Na zdravlje. Za nove pocetke.
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year to ALL.
Let's Celebrate new beginnings.
However you decide to celebrate, this holiday season will be a modified version of anything we have experienced so far. Some of us will be lucky, sitting down together at the dinner table. Yet, others will connect over video chat. This year’s celebration is a dance between staying safe and seeking . This year, we cannot forget the suffering of the most vulnerable among us. There’s a lot of nostalgia going on as we think of the life that was. No matter what and how we decide to celebrate, this year we need to manage expectations.
Maybe this is a chance to reset: we stop holding ourselves to impossible standards of perfect meals and gifts, and no fights. There is no perfect togetherness. There is . For our country, our homes, and our relationships. Simple as that.

This year we are celebrating a different Thanksgiving. This year, we show our thanks by keeping each other . Many of us will be physically distant from our loved ones. This Thanksgiving we might want to take a moment to thank all those amazing people who sacrificed their safety and wellbeing to make it easier for the rest of us. Our family members, our neighbors who went out to shop for us, the doctors and nurses, all the essential workers. for everyone who helped us get through these difficult several months. To all of you. To all of us.
Zoom is on, Jenny and I are connected:" "I am not tired, I am burned out" were her first words. Sounds familiar? While we are taking unprecedented precautions to preserve our physical health, coronavirus has been steadily and progressively affecting our . Since March, we have been experiencing highs and lows of constant dread, spiced with uncertainty and unpredictability. The bottom line is that as much as our safety is important so is our sanity. We are desperate for a normal moment in our lives. These days our mental health is more important than ever. I am here to help /to guide/to simply listen to your story.
Today is day 202 of COVID imposed lifestyle. Let’s be honest- it’s been tough. We are told that things/ life will not be the same.
We are talking about a “new world”/“new normal”. Yet no one knows what this means. One thing is clear: the mask is a new norm: a symbol of , , and . You are not alone.
Over the past several months I have been following Tara Brach www.tarabrach.com . Her wisdom and her insight have helped me find compassion for myself and others in these challenging times. Her wisdom and her insight have helped me find compassion for myself and others. My hope is that the the power of mindfulness will do the same for you.
Many of you have been sharing with me your concerns, your fears. Half a year later, 171 days to be precise, we still don’t have a clear and reliable road map for helping us navigate through these unprecedented times. COVID -19 keeps on pushing us beyond our boundaries. Many questions remain unanswered. Uncertainty has become an unavoidable norm. Yet, this is what we have learned so far: we need each other! we have been and will be making mistakes! we have learned a lot about ourselves, our families, friends, the world. Not all experiences have been good. Some disappointing, some surprising, some beautifully unexpected and hopeful. We all have different coping mechanisms and our ways of processing our experiences vary. Let’s respect our differences.
Let's face it- we are confronted with diminished patience and increased frustration and mistrust. We have been doing our best to adjust our mindset and expectations and understand what being in quarantine feels like. The dread and frustration of perceivably going back, facing yet another "wave" seems inconceivable yet a reality we might need to embrace. Luckily, over the months we have developed routines that are working for us, outlets, activities that are helping us cope. But do not judge yourself for feeling scared and down, do not suppressing your true feelings with ‘I should/shouldn’t feel this way...
I need to be strong". Allow yourself to feel all your feelings. That is essential for your .
At this point is clear that navigating through the lifestyle covid19 pandemic imposed on us is a hard and thorny road. As with any life challenge the process we are going through may help us to know ourselves better and to understand more about the and purpose of our . Although we might be saying enough is enough, at the end of the day, I think that we will find out how strong and we are. While accessing our deepest , we may discover our new (and old) desires and . I would like to hear what are you learning about yourself so far. Are you ready to go even further?
After 110 days of living a life under one roof and navigating through prolonged , accompanied by fear, and loss, we are in our first week of NYC's Phase 2 of reopening. Over the past several months I have worked with so many of you, helping you manage during this : thinking/feeling deeply all we have lost while asking ourselves what can we rebuild, reprioritize, with whom do we want to reconnect. How do we let go of some of the things that were holding us back long before the ? It is not over, but I ask myself and I ask YOU are we ready to create a comeback story?
I’m here to .
With 30 years of clinical practice, I offer psychotherapy and consultations for individuals, couples & families. Having lived, worked, and trained both in Belgrade and New York City, I bring my skills and experience as a clinical psychologist, teacher, supervisor, and public speaker. With deep roots in two countries, my professional and personal life has been about moving between multiple languages and cultures.
I treat people with a wide range of difficulties in living. Drawing from my own personal experiences as an immigrant woman, I have developed a particular interest in working with people who are transitioning between cultures. Whether we came to this country by choice or whether the decision was made out of necessity, immigration experiences shape our relationships with others. In my work, I focus on inter-generational relationships, as individuals and families make these life transitions.
I also specialize in complex trauma, issues of domestic violence, as well as child and adult sexual abuse.
Over the years, I have been privileged to study and work in a variety of academic and clinical settings both in New York and internationally. My professional engagements include: work as an adjunct professor at Columbia University, clinical faculty at NYU School of Medicine, alumna of the Ackerman Institute for the Family, board of directors at American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA), University of Belgrade, Tavistock Clinic, University of Sarajevo, International Family Therapy Association (IFTA).
