Elephants and Tea is perhaps one of the last remaining pieces of actual mail I eagerly await hitting my mailbox. The only magazine written for AYAs by AYAs (adolescents and young adults with cancer). Check out my interview with Rashad Hayes about How Relationships Survive the impact of a young adult cancer diagnosis.

The elephant in the room is cancer. Tea is the relief conversation provides. Check it out.

The heaviness experienced by the pace of change, the loss of control and the uncertainty about health care is weighing on many. In addition to the struggle of my clients, many national organizations who have a mission of offering support and guidance are struggling with how to remain available when there are no good answers.

How do we find calm in the midst of shifting terrain. I sat down with the team at Triage Cancer to talk and to get Grounded in the Uncertainty. Maybe there is something in here that helps you too. Take a listen.

Worth a watch - https://www.shareproject.org In March I flew to LA to film an episode for the groundbreaking show SHARE - Stories of Hope, Adaptation, Resilience, and Empowerment powered by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, offering a space for the Young Adult Blood Cancer Community to amplify their voices and share their experiences.

It was an honor to sit alongside these young adults. From the getting to know you tacos the night before to the profound stories shared on camera for this episode. Lending my voice and expertise alongside the wisdom of their lived experience makes for a pretty important message on mental health and cancer. Sit back, have a listen and share with a cancer survivor in your life today. https://www.shareproject.org

Cancer survivors often struggle with living with uncertainty, and it can feel reckless to think beyond the day-to-day. The word purpose might feel overwhelming or out of touch.

And yet, studies show that having a sense of purpose plays a positive role in mental health. At the most basic level, a sense of purpose directs your actions and behaviors. Purpose doesn’t have to be grand or impact millions of people, but rather somewhere you can place your attention that reminds you how much you matter.

Join us on Wednesday, July 9th, as together we share what purpose means to you and learn more about how this can be a protective factor in times of stress and adversity.

Finding the words and sharing your story can be powerful. A desire to “do something” with all that you’ve learned is a very common feeling after a cancer diagnosis and treatment. How can you make a difference? Use your voice. Your story matters.

Post-diagnosis, you may feel an urgent desire to realign with your values, protect your emotional well-being and communicate your needs with more clarity. But how do you do this effectively?

Join us today (Wednesday May 21st @ 12noon CT) as we discuss the power of boundaries, self-advocacy and finding balance in this new chapter. Let’s Talk About It!

Lungevity HOPE Summit isn’t just information… it’s personal. It’s powerful.

HOPE Summit is where isolation ends and lifelong friendships begin. Where the community you never wanted is the one that immediately feels like your inner circle.

I’m on the big stage at 3pm to meet you and all the messy feelings with honesty, compassion and a little kick ass discipline. 💙

The last time this happened it was spring 2020. The flood of calls to my office from leaders seeking my help in supporting their employees.

Leaders who are recognizing the daily stressors are heavier, the path ahead harder to understand and the toll of it all potentially critical to the health of the organizations they lead.

And, I’ll begin each of those sessions by asking the individuals who attend to cultivate a habit of noticing. Simply checking in with yourself, “how am I doing?” Because, caring for yourself begins with noticing there’s something I need.

Navigating a cancer diagnosis is challenging, and caregiving is equally demanding—physically, emotionally, and mentally.

But what happens when you are both? The weight of grief, time constraints, emotional exhaustion, and isolation can feel overwhelming. How do you carve out moments of rest, shift your perspective, communicate your needs effectively, and honor your limits without guilt?

Join us on Wednesday, April 16th, as we explore the complexities of this dual role with honesty, wisdom, and support. Let’s Talk About It. SHARE Cancer Support

We all have loved ones who show up with an abundance of positivity. But these interactions can be hurtful when this brand of support feels dismissive.

A diagnosis of cancer brings up complicated emotions and you have the right to experience the full spectrum of feelings.

How do you honor your honest experience in ways that are meaningful? How do you communicate what you really need from others?

Join us to talk together about this all-too-common experience. Let’s Talk About It.
