Envisage Neuropsychology PC

Envisage Neuropsychology PC I am a neuropsychologist providing neuropsychological assessments to preschoolers through young adults with learning and psychiatric issues.

My primary goals are to provide families with thorough evaluations, timely reports written in user-friendly language, and a willingness to collaborate with school personnel and other professionals who may be working with their child. Following a combined 15 years of experience at the NYU Child Study Center and Child Mind Institute, I have a broad based understanding of the many issues that our children, teens, and young adults may face – whether one wants a better understanding of the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning differences, or a diagnostic area needs further investigation, such as learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum, language delay, social-emotional difficulties, or any number of neurological conditions that may impact upon learning and academic achievement. I have had extensive experience helping families and those professionals working with them to determine and secure appropriate educational settings for their children and to decide upon a suitable plan for therapies and related services, as well as to establish specific strategies and accommodations to help students succeed. I specialize in designing individualized education plans that connect kids with varying personalities, learning styles, and mental health conditions to their classroom activities. My education plans are based on the most current science we have on learning and interventions, and my reports are comprehensive, easy to understand, and contain recommendations that can be implemented by teachers and parents. In addition to neuropsychological and psychoeducational testing evaluations, I also provide writing remediation, psychotherapy, and the Cogmed Working Memory Training program. Further information about these can be found by clicking on the links above.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film Rose (2022) by director Niels Arden Oplev, based on real-life events of his sister, who is diagnosed with schizophrenia. I was captivated from beginning to end with the poignancy, humor, and frustration of the family’s experiences on a trip to Paris. Among other awards, this new film has won Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actress in the Danish Film Awards.

As a certified provider of Collaborative and Proactive Solutions, I particularly liked a number of examples in the film where others lent their empathy, flexibility, and problem solving to foster positive outcomes in situations that could have otherwise been quite difficult.

It will be available on major streaming platforms starting December 26.

Just saw an inspiring and poignant documentary about autism called In a Different Key. I highly recommend it.

In A Different Key the Movie picks up where the book left off, the stories of autistic people from the first child diagnosed onward.

If you suspect your child may need extra time on the SAT/ACT and are unsure about what is involved in acquiring accommodations, we have answers!

1. The student must have some sort of diagnosed disorder or disability — learning disability, ADHD, physical disability, etc. — that interferes with their ability to take the test.

2. The student must have an extended history of that disorder. It can’t be something that just pops up when you’re about to take the SAT. Our evaluations involve interviewing parents/teachers and reviewing educational records to establish that history.

3. Testing companies (e.g. Collegeboard) usually want to see that children have been granted the same accommodation at school and that they use it! This shows that needing extra time is something that affects their lives more generally, and not just how they take the SAT.

For more information, see the full article on extra time (Spanish version available) written by Dr. Dominick Auciello, published by the Child Mind Institute's Family Resource Center: https://childmind.org/article/my-son-needs-extra-time-on-the-sat-does-anyone-test-high-schoolers/
