A big round of applause for our incredible associates! We recognized those who've been part of the Juniper family for over 90 days with a special Miles the Giraffe shirt. These dedicated individuals go above and beyond every day to ensure our community members feel happy, healthy, and cared for.

Giraffes were chosen as a symbol of our dedication to excellence in service, and for many reasons:

Community members Mr. and Mrs. Ritter celebrated 58 years of marriage on 6/25/24.

Carol-Ann expressed an interest in having a surprise dinner for her husband, Bill even complete with a stunning rose bouquet!
The couples dinner was prepared and served by our incredible Chef Aking Deleon.

They have resided at The Vero at Newark since September 2023. We wish them many more years of happiness!

Also called Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. But the new law was not widely enforced in Texas.

Two and a half years later, on June 19, 1865, Union Army General Gordon Granger and his federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas. He told the enslaved people of the confederate state that they were now free. He also shared the news that the Civil War was over. As a result, slavery in the United States was to end.

The celebration of Juneteenth as a holiday began in Galveston, Texas in the 1860s. Now, many Americans honor this day throughout the country.

We recently threw a happy hour event that was hopping! Our loved ones, the Newark community, and our fantastic associates all joined the fun. The turnout was incredible, and we were showered with compliments throughout the evening. Guests enjoyed beer tastings from 2SP Brewing Company, danced the night away to Rick and Connie's lively tunes, and savored delicious appetizers prepared by our executive chef.

It was an event to remember!

Earth Day is special at Juniper, because it reminds us of the importance of our Green Canopy Signature Program. Through Green Canopy, we continually find ways to make greener choices. Examples include: installing compact fluorescent bulbs, eliminating VOC carpets and paints, and cleaning with eco-friendly products.

Over the last year, reducing single-use plastics has been a major focus at Juniper. We invite you to choose "green" today by eliminating single-use plastics from your day!

April 6th is a special holiday at Juniper. It's the birthday of Lynne Katmann's "Oma". Auguste Klein was born on this day in 1896. Her life was an inspiration to Lynne and the Juniper culture we embody today. Auguste ran her own business in the 1920s, rode a motorcycle in her mid-70s, and was always ready to share laughter and wisdom. We celebrate her birthday to honor our roots and remind us to be "alive in ALL seasons" of life!

At The Vero at Newark, we are encouraged to give back to our community. This is living the Three-Thirds Lifestyle: 1/3: Putting Family First 2/3: Giving Back to the Community and 3/3: Meaningfully Contributing to our Work Environment.
We hosted a Crab Feast Fundraiser for our residents, families and staff. All proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association.
