Last week, some of our oncology nurses traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to attend the 51st Annual ONS Congress. This conference is an incredible opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the country, learn from leading experts, and bring fresh perspectives back to our community - while taking in a bit of San Antonio along the way.

They joined oncology nurses from all 50 states and 22 countries, all sharing the same passion for advancing cancer care and supporting patients.

A special thank you to Stephanie, Megan, Katrina, and Kelsey for representing MOHC so well and for the compassionate, high-quality care you provide every day. We’re grateful to have you on our team! 💙

Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the US, and experts estimate that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Taking a few minutes to look over your skin can help you notice changes early, when they’re most treatable. A simple monthly check can make a meaningful difference. Look for:

Spots or moles that change in size, shape, or color

New growths that don’t look like the rest

Sores that don’t heal

Your skin tells a story—paying attention helps you protect your health and catch concerns early. Make today the day you check in with yourself.

Last Friday, we traded in our scrubs for bowling shoes! 🎳 We came together as a team to connect, laugh, and enjoy time with one another outside of our daily work.

Every day, our team is committed to caring for our patients and reminding them that no one fights alone - a message we proudly wear and live by. And it felt just as important to take time to support one another, too.

We also recognized everyone’s birthdays 🎂 from throughout the year, making the day even more special. Grateful for moments like these to recharge and reconnect! ✨

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

At MOHC and Delaware Breast Care, we know that cancer care is about more than physical health. A diagnosis can affect your emotions, thoughts, relationships, and overall sense of well-being. Caring for your mental health is an important part of your care.

Today, we’re proud to highlight Dr. Andriana Frost, Clinical Psychologist, who supports patients, caregivers, and their families through every stage of the cancer journey with compassion and understanding.

Her work brings attention to the emotional and psychological impact of cancer and helps ensure those in our care feel heard, supported, and cared for.

💚 Because caring for our patients means caring for their whole well-being.
💚 Thank you, Dr. Frost, for all you do!

It's Women's Health Week--early detection is the best tool we have for fighting cancers that are often found in women. The American Cancer Society recommends:

Breast Cancer:
Age 40 to 44: Patients have the option to begin screening with a mammogram annually.
Age 45 to 54: Annual screening with a mammogram is recommended.
Age 55 and older: Patients can switch to a mammogram every other year or continue yearly mammograms. Screening should continue as long as the patient is in good health and expected to live at least 10 more years.

Cervical Cancer:
Age 25 to 65: Patients should have a primary HPV test every five years, or the HPV + PAP co-test every five years, a self-collected HPV test every three years, or a PAP test every three years.
Age 65 and older: Patients may be able to stop screening. For most screening methods, you can stop screening if your last two tests have been normal. If you are screening with the Pap test, you can stop if your last three tests have been normal.
