Erie Shore Landing Printshop (50 East Ave, Newark) is hosting a document shred event this Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM — and it’s just $0.60 per pound!
Bring your old bills, papers, and sensitive documents and have them shredded securely, all while supporting a great cause. Our programs provide meaningful job opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and your support helps make it all possible.

On behalf of Gehrig Lohrmann, Arc Wayne Board President, we would like to share that David Calhoun will be retiring effective December 31, 2025. David has been CEO of The Arc Wayne for almost 20 years and has helped the agency navigate many positive changes, as well as a pandemic! He will be remembered for his calm approach and thoughtful decision-making that has helped facilitate the success of this agency.

We would like to announce as well that, after a 3-month search process, the Board of Directors have chosen Melissa Kumkey to take on the role of CEO beginning September 1, 2025. Melissa brings many years of experience to her new role, including 30 years at The Arc Wayne. She has overseen countless programs, most recently in her role as Chief Operating Officer. Melissa’s dedication and mission focus are evident to those around her, and we are excited about the next chapter in our Agency’s long history.

We have a new friend at Ashley Street, the absolutely adorable Muffin! 🐱 This stuffed feline friend is much like a cat (also named Muffin, in the second picture) that Mr. Sonny bonded with at Murray St. and is a welcomed addition to the gang at Ashley St.

Over the last week or two, Day Hab has been out and about taking in the beautiful sunshine! 🌞 From trips to the zoo, to Powder Mills Park, and even a stop at the Wayne County Fair, we've been having a blast! 😎

What a fantastic time we had last Friday night at Music on the Erie! Big thank you to everyone who came out to support, to Corey Comer Music (aka ) for his dazzling performance, and to the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, the NYS Canal Corporation, and the Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce.

We were so happy to have Erik Geizer, CEO of The Arc NY visit us in Wayne County yesterday!

During his time, he got to see much of what makes The Arc Wayne special, spending time getting a tour from one of our learners at Roosevelt Children's Center, visiting our Palmyra apartments, and even got to have some tasty snacks at Erie Shore Landings Cafe (Erie Shore Landing) and Ice Cream Shop (Erie Shore Ice Cream).
