R3THA (Rehabilitation Technologies for Hand and Arm) helps people with stroke by providing personalized, high-intensity rehabilitation exercises for hand and arm function through an engaging exergame platform. Here’s how it supports stroke recovery:

1. Enhancing Neuroplasticity
R3THA uses motion tracking and adaptive learning algorithms to deliver targeted rehabilitation exercises that encourage neuroplasticity aka the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. This is key for stroke survivors relearning lost motor skills!

2. Personalized and Real-Time Feedback
The system includes a kinematic assessment protocol and provides real-time biofeedback to tailor therapy sessions to the user’s current ability level. This makes therapy both more effective and motivating.

3. Home and Clinic Use Across the Continuum of Care
R3THA is designed to work in clinical settings (e.g., hospitals, outpatient centers) and at home, enabling continuous therapy without interruption. This continuity is crucial for sustained recovery, especially after hospital discharge.

4. Extending Therapy Time
In inpatient settings, R3THA can be used during non-therapy hours, effectively increasing the total therapy dosage. This additional therapy time is critical for motor recovery, especially in early post-stroke phases.

5. Remote Monitoring and Progress Tracking
The platform supports remote monitoring and standardized assessments, which helps therapists and caregivers track patient progress over time and across care transitions. This also reduces reassessment time during follow-ups.
