Without family we have nothing. Here’s a little inspiration today.
I borrowed my husband’s truck to run an errand a couple of days ago. I was putting some bags in the back when I noticed his hard hat was upside down on the seat. I noticed something written inside so I looked closer to see the word “family.”
My husband is an Instructor and teaches mostly young men in a challenging trade. He’s told me of how he often tells them to write what motivates them to succeed on the inside of their hard hats. This way, when things get tough, they have a visible reminder of why they are working so hard.
He never told me that he wrote in his, too.
So when I saw the word “family” there in his hard hat, my eyes filled with tears.
Family.
His family.
Our family is what drives him to succeed.
Day after day, week after week, year after year. When he faces challenges and hardships he keeps putting that hard hat on his head because it’s he’s carrying a family on his shoulders.
Then I thought for a moment about what I would write in my own proverbial hard hat.
And I had many ideas but ultimately I landed on family, too.
Because I don’t ever want to work to impress my friends or one up my neighbors. I don’t want to work to drive the fanciest cars or carry the latest iPhone. I don’t want to spend my time trying to be something I’m not.
I just want to raise my family.
And no matter what comes my way, I’ll keep
pushing forward. For my family.
