National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day, which occurs each year on September 18, might seem like an odd combination for an observance. But it actually makes perfect sense. Thanks to some startling advances in treatment, people with HIV are living longer than ever. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost half of Americans living with HIV are over 50.

Teenager Workout Day falls on September 16!

The teen years are the first time we become aware of social influences around us. Such issues involving family, gender roles, and beauty standards suddenly garner more attention as we start to form critical thinking. Along with puberty comes not just physical changes but a shift in the way we view the world and ourselves.

When obesity is present in the home, it can be damaging for teens to grow and develop properly into healthy adults. Teenager Workout Day is relevant because it allows teens an opportunity to start an active lifestyle for the better.

People celebrate the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Day on September 15 every year.

The holiday was created as a collective effort to bring attention to a social cause. Drug abuse is a recurrent issue in many countries, and one of the leading causes of death.

Several initiatives and educational programs have been organized during the last few decades to prevent drug abuse, and this special observance day is one of such efforts.

National Day of Encouragement is observed on September 12.

This is dedicated to encouraging and having a positive impact on those around us. The best thing about this day is that you can make someone happy by simply saying a few words of encouragement. Your words have the power to lift someone when they are down. They also have the power to motivate someone who might be struggling or encourage someone to pick themselves back up after a setback.

A small act of encouragement could be the spark that changes a loved one’s perspective. To praise and encourage someone’s efforts is a practice worth having, no matter the day of the year.
