With the first week of Mental Health Awareness Month coming to a close, let’s take this time to take a break. Here are a few minute break ideas that you can add to your toolbox and recharge.

~ Deep Breathing: Try the 4-7-8 (Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, then out for 8
~ Sensory Reset: Take an ice cube or cold cloth and place it on your face
~ Simple Yoga: Stretch your limbs it does not have to be anything fancy
~ Start a Gratitude Jar: Get a small paper and write one thing you are grateful for and put it in the jar. Later add to your jar and pull out as you need the positive boost.
~ Take a minute to clean your place or things. Throw some trash away, rub the dust off, or simply organize that pile of mail. Even just a minute can help boost your mood.

These are just a few ideas to give yourself a nice needed small break when you need to reset adding these to your mental health toolbox that you may like or may help you and add your favorite tool to the comments because your tool might be the thing that someone else needs to hear.

🌱 Mental health is everything.
Not just on the hard days, but every single day. It’s the foundation for how we show up for ourselves, our families, our friends, and our dreams.

Too often we push through exhaustion, anxiety, sadness, or burnout like it’s normal. We say “I’m fine” when we’re barely holding it together. We scroll past our own needs to take care of everyone else.

But here’s the truth:

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

You’re allowed to rest.

You’re allowed to ask for help.

You’re allowed to not be okay.

If you’re struggling right now — whether it’s anxiety that won’t quit, depression that makes everything feel heavy, or just a constant feeling of being overwhelmed — I see you. You’re not weak. You’re human. And you matter more than your productivity or how “together” you look on the outside.

•Check on your strong friends.

•Check on the ones who always seem happy.

•And most importantly, check on yourself.

Small steps count:

• A 10-minute walk

• Saying no without guilt

• Reaching out to a friend

• Therapy

• Medication (when needed)

• Simply breathing through the hard moment

Mental health isn’t a luxury — it’s everything. Let’s normalize talking about it without shame.

If you’re reading this and needed this reminder today: You’ve already survived 100% of your hardest days. You’ve got this. One breath, one step, one day at a time.

Imagine a world....

Where mental health care was health care.

Where our insurance paid for annual checkups with a mental health provider, even if we are "fine."

Where we all had a primary care provider to help keep our minds well, and our insurance paid for those visits too, or at least helped out with the cost...

Where also we had someone we could go see when we are not feeling well in our minds, and our insurance paid for that too, or at least helped out with the cost.

Maybe then in this world, more and more people would have healthy minds, souls, and bodies.

Why do we wait until more and more people are mentally ill, and hit bottom and lost everything they need in their life, to start paying attention to mental health, and demand the mentally ill get help, and then have insurance, or taxpayers, pay, or help pay for those services?

Imagine a world...
