“Somebody oughta do something about that!”

At The Main Place, in our Newark and Mt. Vernon drop-in centers, we are doing something about that when it comes to providing a safe place for individuals who experience mental illness to belong and Recover. Recovery is possible!

And levy funding from Mental Health and Recovery for Licking and Knox Counties helps make it possible for members of The Main Place.

With this funding, we open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and provide individual and group support to individuals experiencing mental illness.

The people we serve in Licking and Knox Counties have a safe place to socialize, a safe place to start and continue their Recovery journey, a safe place to learn skills that will help them live healthier, and build better lives for themselves.

All of this happens day after day for over 25 years here at The Main Place because Mental Health and Recovery for Licking and Knox Counties partners with The Main Place.

We urge you to vote “YES” for the Mental Health and Recovery for Licking and Knox Counties Levy on November 4, 2025!

The Main Place provides a continental breakfast and hot lunch Monday through Friday for a very low cost. We can do that because of the generous donations we receive from Food Pantry Network of Licking County and Mid-Ohio Food Bank.

As you can see, there is an increasing need in our communities, but there is also an increasing strain on those supplying resources that allow agencies like The Main Place to provide a meal at a cost the agency can afford. Please consider giving a donation to Food Pantry Network of Licking County or Mid-Ohio Food Bank as the demand for their resources are ever increasing and their access to resources becomes more and more difficult.

The Main Place Mt. Vernon Center will be open normal business hours of 8 am to 3 pm.

We don’t need always to talk about what is going on inside of our head

We don’t need always to define and express ourselves and defend our actions even if it’s wrong

Words do fail to express a lot when you are in pain or feeling sad.

Sometimes all what we need is a little more love.
A little more silence and peace, a little more real things.

A tight hug and warm hand to calm our soul down.

We have been through a lot of wars inside of our souls seeking for peace.

❄️ In preparation for extremely cold temperatures, the Licking County Emergency Warming Center Task Force will open a warming center for anyone who is seeking a place to get out of the cold January 19, 20 and 21, 2025.

Location: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church - 592 W. Main Street ~ Newark, Ohio

Times:
- Sunday (1/19/25) from 5:30pm to 9:30am Monday (1/20/25)
- Monday (1/20/25) from 5:30pm to 9:30am Tuesday (1/21/25)
- Tuesday (1/21/25) from 5:30pm to 9:30am Wednesday (1/22/25)

Evening and morning meals will be provided by Licking Memorial Health Systems.

Licking County Transit will provide free transportation to the warming center from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday evenings (not Sunday), with a return loop each morning.

NOTE: The Drop In Center at Holy Trinity will hold their regular hours.
