‼️Important to read for patients and their families‼️

PATIENTS/FAMILIES: please read.

This is difficult to share, but as the owner of this practice I believe transparency matters.

For the past year and a half, our state Medicaid managed care programs and Medicare have not been properly reimbursing our claims despite ongoing billing reviews, corrections, and multiple escalations. Each time we are told everything appears correct — yet the payments don’t reflect that reality. Often not receiving payment at all. We receive occasional checks for small amounts (sometimes even cents) while tens of thousands remain unpaid.
Our monthly operating costs — staff salaries, electronic health record systems, malpractice coverage, and business insurance — continue regardless of reimbursement. At this point, I am essentially paying out of pocket to provide care, and our personal savings are nearly exhausted. We have downsized our home, reduced to one vehicle, and taken loans just to keep the doors open.

This has never been about money. Those of you who have known me for years know I care deeply about this work and this community. But sustainability matters, and we are reaching a point where something will have to change if the situation does not improve.

My seizures are significantly worsened by stress, and the ongoing uncertainty is impacting both my health and my ability to consistently be present for you — which is the opposite of what I want as your provider.

If you feel comfortable, you may contact your insurance representative and ask why MoodRx claims are not being reimbursed. Patient inquiries sometimes receive attention that providers cannot.

You are more than patients to us — you are our community — and you deserve to know what is happening.

Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. Just can’t see your heart but I bet you’re being treated for high blood pressure if you are >40 years old. Just sayin’🙃

I call off more than I'd like (which I prefer & used to be rare) but then seizures came in 2022. Then came tests, Cleveland, meds, side effects, more meds....you get it.

I totally understand if you have to go elsewhere. 100% understand. But know that I will always, always do what is best for my patients, whether that's put 100% of my medical brain and heart into their care, and if not, I am genuinely sorry but patients have to (and always have been) my number one priority. Regardless of the issue, through all the insurance bu****it, refusals, denials....no way sir, not my patient. But I can't do that if my brain can't "brain".

So I don't mean to do it so, but now you know why, and hopefully don't always wanna punch me, and I totally understand if you go elsewhere, even if they are inferior😘jk jk

He was a teenage boy who laughed in our living room, didn’t his chores and tried to build a life better than the wounds he carried from his own biological family.

He aged out of foster care and the adult world met him with indifference. He died of an op**te overdose before he even knew what adulthood was

His body was discarded in the trash behind a gas station—treated as if his life had no worth. For two weeks he lay at the Columbus Coroner’s office as a John Doe, unnamed, unclaimed, unrecognized by the society that had already failed him too many times.

But we knew him. We remember him. And we refuse to let the world forget that he mattered—that every foster child, every child or teen, every lost and hurting young person matters. His story is a call to conscience, and his memory deserves not silence, but change. THIS is when I learned the personal effects of PTSD and how it contributes to trying and abusing drugs.
