We explore yoga philosophy as we teach classical poses to bring awareness, understanding and enjoyment to students. First Street Yoga offers yoga classes and workshops in the Iyengar tradition for students of all levels. We explore the philosophy of yoga as we teach the physical postures to bring awareness, understanding and enjoyment to students in class as well as in their personal practice. Yoga is a practice of balance – effort and relaxation, action and introspection, discipline and surrender. The skills we learn in practice help us face the challenges of our lives with a strong and healthy body, a calm and reasonable mind, and an open heart. The First Street Yoga center is located in downtown Newberg, Oregon - just minutes from Dundee, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, McMinnville, Canby, Saint Paul and Wilsonville.

First Street Yoga doesn't exist anymore. But Jane is teaching a little at Newberg Community Yoga (same space, different owner). I'll be teaching a beginning/continuing class on Tuesdays at 9am. Join me!

As you might have guessed, Newberg Community Yoga is closed today due to snow. Communication is a little difficult until Amy gets her systems all set up. They will probably follow the schools regarding when they are closed or open. I hope you're enjoying the snow holiday. Stay safe and warm!

Newberg Community Yoga classes will begin January 9 with really affordable introductory prices so you can try the new teachers and find your spot. The schedule is in the side bar at www.firststreetyoga.com; I'll get the prices and everything else up there soon!

Amy has been busy setting up a new, expanded yoga business! She's found a handful of good teachers and they are planning the schedule now. I understand classes will begin January 7. Under these circumstances, you will certainly be seeing me around -- as a fellow student and occasional teacher. Stay posted!

More cancellations! Saturday, Dec. 17 classes are cancelled. Next week, Jane will teach Thursday and Friday and Robert will teach a 9am class on Saturday 12/24. We hope to see some of you then.
It looks like yoga classes will continue in the space, so don't lose heart! More news soon...

I'm cancelling the Friday 11 am adaptive class for 12/16. Still too icy up here. I'm planning on snow make-ups next Thursday and Friday, 12/22 and 23. I hope to see you then. In the meantime, stay safe and cozy.
