from Dr. John- Good morning everyone. In keeping with Breast Cancer awareness month, I want to (once again!) emphasize the importance of having optimal vitamin D levels in your body. I first became "obsessed" with vitamin D over 20 years ago when I learned about the strong relationship between vitamin D levels and CHRONIC PAIN (which is a focus in my practice). Over the years I become pretty familiar with the actual research (not just the policies of the "trade associations' for endocrinology and/or oncology.) After working with hundreds of patients on this issue, I am confident that (for most adults) optimal vitamin d levels can ONLY be achieved via 4k-10kiu per day supplementation with D3. Fortunately, hundreds of my existing or former patients now supplement (correctly) with vitamin D3. But sadly, the vast majority USA adults still have no knowledge of the importance of vitamin D! They have never been tested, they do NOT supplement and have never been told about vitamin D by any of their healthcare providers. This is a tragedy, IMHO. So what is the "take home"? 1-Get tested, so you know your blood level. 2-Consider supplementing daily with 5000iu per day. Also, in the comment below there is a link to the source of this infographic, a reputable non-profit which gives evidence-based information about vitamin D. They also have a FB page called GrassrootsHealth Nutrient Research Institute . Thank you and be well.

Design cities for cars, not people.

Make movement optional and inconvenient.

Make people feel not enough, and then sell them temporary fixes.

Break the Family & Undermine Tradition:

Make parenting seem impossible or uncool.

Undermine trust between generations.

Encourage the idea that old wisdom is irrelevant.

Encourage Moral Numbness:

Blur the line between right and wrong.

Normalize vice as freedom.

Replace purpose with pleasure.

Drown Out Silence:

Fill every moment with noise, distraction, and stimulation.

Keep people too busy or numb to reflect, pray, or heal.

Basically, make health feel weird, truth feel relative, and dysfunction feel normal. That’d do the trick.

In my office we practice patient-centered/customized care. That said, I recommend vitamin D3 supplementation to nearly all of my adult patients (with a very few exceptions), along with a few other supplements. Thanks for reading.
