Energy psychology works.
5 days of - How Does Research Enhance your Energy Psychology Work?
As an academic (and clinician), I have now spent more than 15 years conducting clinical trials in the area of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). What was once the strangest looking stress reduction technique and with little robust evidence for its effectiveness, EFT has become an emerging area of international attention backed by quality research. Here’s how the research has changed things: our understanding of how EFT worked when I first started out, focused on the body’s “meridian” and energy system. While there may be some truth to this, it was not well accepted in mainstream sectors and clinical trials have now advanced our understanding. We have come to understand that EFT has profound effects on the nervous system, the production of stress hormones (particularly cortisol), DNA regulation, and brain activation. The research that has led us here has also made it more acceptable in the academic community, as it has built a bridge to what was already acknowledged.
Indeed over 200 EFT review articles, research studies and meta-analyses have now been published in professional, peer-reviewed journals, and another 50 in foreign language publications. Many of these trials have been the pinnacle of research (randomised controlled trials and meta analyses). While there are over 400 identified forms of psychotherapy, many have little or no research to validate them. Energy psychology as the overarching field of EFT is now both evidence-based and in the top 10% in terms of published research for psychotherapy 💞
