RIP Ronald Spencer 12/27/1969 - 08/16/24
Born in Bangor, Maine

Yesterday we laid to rest Ron Spencer at Brook Side Cemetery in Newburgh, Maine, with friends and new family in attendance.

Ron came into our lives back in January of 2024. We met him as a referal to come join our home. It took a couple of months before another client waiting placement could find a bed, but Ron waited patiently. And in April Ron moved into Home Springs Haven. It wasn't long after Ron became a resident of the home he became a part of the family.

We didn't know much about Ron but we knew he loved it here. It was an honor to see his smile. He constantly reminded us how he loved it with us. Though he could not speak in the last few months of his life he truly tried to make sure you understood him. He was a private person. We did find out after some time, Ron had been living on his own for quite a few years. His mother Cindy and father, Earl Spencer passed almost 15 years ago while Ron was living with them in the Bangor, area. He never married or had children from what we told he also didnt have any siblings. So Ron becoming part of our family was even that more special.

Ron left behind his dog companion, in which his friend and neighbor,Michelle graciously took in her care after Ron was diagnosed with a life threatening cancer of his throat.

In November of 2023 Ron had been given 6 months to live. He under went a surgery to remove his voice box that had tumor growth. He made a decision during that time to refuse any other cancer treatments. We believe he came into our lives for a most important part, to feel loved during this last season, in which he was.

Ron had been given a few bad hands in life. However, grace met Ron, and his last moments of his life on this Earth were with a team of people who loved and treated him with respect and honor. Thank you to all the support staff, the hospice teams, caregivers and friends who were there for Ron in this part of his life.

Ron will be forever a memory in our home. Be at peace our Brother and friend.
