"your heart is like a pearl, beautiful" SharathJi

Happy birthday dear teacher. We honor you everyday. Your life was a gift to us all. You taught us about integrity, dedication, discipline, respect and the art of yoga as a 24hr practice...as a way of life.

You are missed. You are remembered.

Ganésa Festival organized by my teacher of

We are excited to join Veda studies from the shala this year. Join Bibi daily from the 28th (in person) onwards or register via Veda studies website, link in their bio.

"For the 6th year in a row, our global chanting community will gather in devotion to Lord Gaṇeśa through the sacred recitation of the Gaṇapati Atharvaśīrṣa, also known as the Gaṇapati Upaniṣad. This is a community prayer for the removal of obstacles and the deepening of inner clarity.

This post vedic text is a radiant expression of Gaṇeśa as the Supreme Reality – Brahman, as the very embodiment of Oṃ, from whom the universe arises, is sustained, and into whom it dissolves.

"You are the earth, water, fire, air and space…
You are the four levels of speech."
— Gaṇapati Atharvaśīrṣa

When we come together in sādhana — year after year — we build not only skill, but also spiritual momentum. This is our offering as a community to Gaṇeśa, with reverence and love.

Let us practice together, with intention, for a meaningful festival this year.

26 August to 04 September - daily 30 minutes - 3pm Brussels time
🪔 Sign up here to join the free event"

Big news 🪷

We have a new logo, a new imprint of what the shala represents. When Austin and I first opened our Shaka in 2022 I designed the logo to represent an 8 limbed tree, with lines within it to represent prana, roots to represent lineage and leafs that could give off a sense of movement for vinyasa. The tree was held within the nurturing borders of our windows, representing the woman for yoga practice. Talented Chrissy who at the time ran Hudson Valley Naturals created this for us with great mastery :)

Fast forward to 2025, I have taken over the Shala as my own project supported by our whole community and felt that what has been created within our windows has now expanded / birthed / grown beyond those beautiful window frames. Thai expansion is seen in our practice, our sangha but also in the work the Shala is beginning to do outside of its walls as a means to take yoga off the mat and into our community. So my sister .lorenzetti created a new image for the Shala.

This new image represents a coral tree from Sicily, Italy, my home country. She came up with this herself after having followed the Shala through me closely.

The coral tree, with its vibrant red blossoms, carries a rich tapestry of spiritual meanings, including good luck, prosperity, and resilience. It is often viewed as a symbol of nature's beauty and enduring life force, capable of thriving even amidst challenges. In some cultures, it represents affectionate love and enduring connections.

More on this one our blog...
Over the course of the next two weeks, I'll be switching all over and we will soon have a new sign up - thanks to a grant from the city of Newburgh.

I hope you will love it as much as I do.
New merch coming soon🧚🪔🙏✨

ॐ गं गणपतये नमः
Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha

I bow down to that which holds all

Through practice we learn to understand that obstacles and challenges are a means by which we grow. When we start a journey we invoke Ganesha, Ganapati to protect our journey, so that we may have the necessary resources to hold ourselves through the inevitable deviations and difficulties encountered on the path.

The practice of Asana offers us a playground on which to practice finding ease in the challenge, finding the infinite space that lies beyond the limitations of the ego-mind. A space where deep peace resides, always available to us. A space where we can take refuge from the chaos of the world. We fold, we breath, we move and we hold ourselves through it.

Moolabandha is the entry point to this space of infinity where no obstacles reside. When we master moolabandha we learn to manage the prana within the body, the winds of the subtle body. Ganesha is known to be the doorman to the elevator that is sushumna Nadi. When moolabandha is practiced prana is collected and properly guided into the central channel and rises up to the crow and merge with divine insight.

I bow down to that which holds infinity, to that which holds all.

Teaching Style & Influences

Hatha Yoga goes beyond the physical practice. In Sanskrit, the word "hatha" can be translated as "sun" (ha) and "moon" (ta), while "yoga" comes from the word "yug," meaning "union." Together, the name "Hatha yoga" represents a yoga practice that balances the polarities—the sun and moon energy, the light and the dark—within the self. This balance is achieved by pairing physical postures (asanas) with breathing techniques (pranayama). The sequence of poses in Hatha yoga will vary from class to class but tend to follow a general structure.

Trauma informed yoga’ is a popular phrase, but what exactly does it mean for us as teachers and students? What types of training and support can we put in place for ourselves to become more informed? As individuals, how can we mitigate systemic cultures of harm?

In this workshop, Masha will offer her experience as a teacher and practitioner to define ‘trauma informed care’, and the ethics of that phrase. Our time together will include:

- Creating a ‘brave space’ vs a ‘safe space’
- Boundaries, Consent, and Scope of Practice in Yoga
- How to cultivate more inclusive spaces and how to repair unintentional harm

This workshop is for anyone that truly wants to create the safest spaces for the most people. Please come with the willingness to explore cultures of harm and the intention to find strength in vulnerability. We will create a brave space together.
