This is one of the most common misunderstandings about hospice care. 💚

Hospice is not about giving up. It’s about focusing on comfort, dignity, and quality of life when a cure is no longer possible. When care begins earlier, patients and families can receive more support, education, and peace of mind throughout the journey.

Deciding when to call hospice is never easy, but reaching out sooner can make a meaningful difference.

Many families tell us they wish they had contacted hospice earlier. Hospice care can be most helpful when support begins, offering comfort, dignity, and guidance during a challenging time. 🫂

Signs it may be time include increasing pain or symptoms, frequent hospital visits, changes in daily function, or caregiver exhaustion. Hospice care supports both patients and families with a focus on quality of life.

➡️ If you’re unsure whether it’s time, you can still call us at 845-561-6111. A referral is not required, and we’re here to help guide you. Feel free to read more by visiting https://ow.ly/fmcK50XQ0Yz

What is Hospice? 💚

Hospice care focuses on quality of end-of-life care. The goal is comfort, dignity, and respect, helping people feel supported, cared for, and as comfortable as possible. The earlier hospice care is involved, the more support and guidance can be provided to patients and loved ones.

Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties provides that quality end-of-life care, bringing nearly 40 years of experience in managing pain and symptoms, offering emotional and spiritual support, and caring for patients and their loved ones.

Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance.

At its heart, hospice is about compassion and honoring each person’s journey.

Supporting a child through grief can be challenging, but no family has to face it alone. 💚

Our Thriving Families Children’s Grieving Services program offers a safe, supportive space for kids ages 5 to 12 to share their feelings, learn coping skills, and connect with others through art, music, stories, and guided activities.

Caregivers also receive support through separate adult sessions that provide tools, understanding, and space to navigate their own grief while helping their child.

New sessions begin soon and take place on select Mondays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
