Orthopaedic Associates has been part of the Evansville community since 1940, when Dr. Joseph C. Lawrence began his career as one of the region’s first orthopaedic surgeons. What started as a single-physician practice has grown into a team of specialists serving thousands of patients each year.

We’re excited to share this rendering of our new outpatient surgery center, being built in collaboration with Deaconess. This state-of-the-art facility is designed with our community in mind, bringing advanced orthopaedic care and cutting-edge technology closer to home.

This center will serve patients across the region for years to come, expanding access and improving the patient experience every step of the way.

Meet Dr. Ross Whitacre! 👋

As a professional physiatrist, Dr. Whitacre specializes in helping patients improve mobility, manage pain, and recover from injuries through non-surgical, personalized care. His expertise in physical medicine, rehabilitation, sports medicine, and interventional spine care allows him to offer a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to restoring function and preventing discomfort.

Dr. Whitacre and his wife, Anne, a Primary Care Physician in the area, are proud to be part of the local medical community. Together they have three sons, two of whom interned at Orthopaedic Associates this summer!

In June, a team from Orthopaedic Associates, led by Dr. Doug Lowery, partnered with Faith In Practice to bring life-changing orthopaedic care to Guatemala.

Over four days, they performed 87 surgeries, helping restore mobility, comfort, and independence to patients with little or no access to treatment.

The trip was a powerful reminder of what compassion, teamwork, and community support can achieve. We’re proud to share a few moments from this experience and the lives it touched.

Exciting News for Southern Indiana! 👣
Starting August 1, 2025, Orthopaedic Associates will launch the first and only advanced Foot and Ankle Surgical Fellowship in Southern Indiana and the surrounding region, under the directorship of Dr. Charles A. Sisovsky.

Not only are we leading the way in training, but Orthopaedic Associates is also the only group in the region with board- certified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeons, bringing unmatched expertise to our community.

"Teaching is something I'm passionate about,” says Dr. Sisovsky. “To be an accredited ACFAS fellowship and mentor the next generation of foot and ankle podiatric surgeons is something I'm extremely excited about."

This one-year, ACFAS-accredited program offers advanced surgical training, hands-on experience, research opportunities, and personalized mentorship, with a strong emphasis on total ankle replacement, arthroscopy and sports medicine, and minimally invasive surgery.
