This past May, a tornado tore through the home of cardiac sonographer Chelsie — turning life upside down for her young family in an instant.

But in the wake of the chaos, something powerful happened: across Deaconess Heart Hospital and beyond, a wave of support rolled in. From donations and clothing to PTO hours and pet care, her teammates brought the calm after the storm.

Because here, when one of us faces rough skies, we all show up — rain or shine.

Big News from Deaconess Midtown!
Yesterday, history was made as Dr. Martin, Dr. Cherakupalli, and our incredible surgical team successfully performed the first-ever Tambe procedure at Deaconess!
The Tambe procedure — the first FDA-approved minimally invasive solution for repairing complex aortic aneurysms — is a game-changer. Until now, patients had to travel 2–3 hours for this advanced care. Not anymore.
This milestone is the result of extensive training by Dr. Martin and seamless collaboration with our surgical team. It’s not just a win for Deaconess — it’s a huge step forward for patients right here in our region.
The future of vascular care is here and it’s happening at Deaconess Midtown.

This year’s Gilligan’s Island-themed luncheon was a hit, featuring local celebrities in costume—including Deaconess' own Shawn McCoy and Dr. James Porter, Dr. Ron Pyle as The Professor, Dr. Brennan Fitzpatrick as "Doc" from The Love Boat, and stealing the show, Linda White as Jaws!

While the day was full of fun and island surprises, the real treasure was the funds raised to purchase life-saving AEDs for first responders, schools and community buildings. HeartSaver has already placed more than 850 AEDs throughout the region, and thanks to the generosity of those who attended, an additional 40 AEDs will soon be added!
