North Shore AAC

North Shore AAC We provide AAC caregiver consulting, professional training/coaching and school contract services. Consulting services available nationwide. Hello!

Services are in-home in the Newbury, MA area and via teletherapy anywhere in MA. Thank you for visiting North Shore AAC. My name is Michelle Britt-Thompson, MS, CCC-SLP. I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of children with complex communication needs. I bring over 20 years of experience to North Shore AAC where I provide services to children from the beginning communications stages into adulthood. I have advanced knowledge and experience with multiple AAC systems such as LAMP Words for Life®, TouchChat, Proloquo2go, etc. I am also a certified LAMP Words for Life® professional. After working in the schools providing services to children with complex communication needs, I saw the need for expert private therapy services within my own community. My small, specialized private practice allows me to build trusting and lasting relationships with my clients and their families. Through direct services, parent coaching, and advocacy, it is my goal to help my clients and their families to achieve lasting communication success. I am also excited to offer caregiver consulting services to families nationwide. Caregiver consulting is designed to educate, train, and empower parents and caregivers to effectively advocate for and communicate with their child. Whether parents are just exploring AAC as a means of communication or are looking for more advanced support, I am able to provide services to address almost any topic related to AAC and/or LAMP Words for Life®. As an SLP with a diverse professional background, I am also aware of the importance of empowering professionals with the skills necessary to confidently support their clients who use AAC. Training for speech-language pathologists, SLPAs, teachers, para-educators, personal care assistants, and other professionals is available nationwide. endever* found AAC as an autistic adult, and since that time has been an active AAC advocate and researcher. In "Speech is exhausting", they focus on their “meaningful participation in society as a semispeaking AAC user, the importance of self-determination and interdependence, and the critical role of participatory research.”

How can we best support autistic AAC users across different environments? Join Lydia MacKay, M.A., CCC-SLP, BCBA, for a webinar on translanguaging with LAMP, where we’ll explore culturally responsive AAC strategies that help families, teachers, and caregivers create meaningful communication routines at home, in school, and in the community.

Lydia brings over two decades of experience in AAC, speech-language pathology, and applied behavior analysis. She currently works in a Phoenix school district with preschoolers who use AAC and provides Spanish and English AAC trainings in home and community settings. She is passionate about helping families and professionals build language through meaningful routines.
In this session, we’ll discuss:
✅ Supporting multiple languages in daily routines across settings
✅ Culturally responsive AAC strategies for home, school, and beyond
✅ Finding moments of joy and connection in AAC use
✅ Common challenges & practical solutions for caregivers and educators

Lydia will share real-life experiences, briefly demonstrate key LAMP Words for Life features in Spanish, and provide resources to help families, teachers, and caregivers bridge communication in a way that honors both language and culture.

ASHA CEU's are not provided, however participants who attend the live event will receive a certificate of attendance.
The event will be recorded and made available on the Center for AAC and Autism's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsxtIzPlom78Ae_i83eNYl4MVe6O4DtGd

The U.S. Department of Education is shutting down several Office for Civil Rights (OCR) regional offices on March 15, 2025, including locations in Boston, New York, Cleveland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Chicago, and Dallas. This raises serious concerns about the future of civil rights enforcement in education—especially for students who rely on these offices for protection.

Here’s how you can advocate:
✔️ Contact your elected officials and urge them to oppose these closures.
✔️ Spread awareness—share this information and educate your community.
✔️ Attend school board and local government meetings to push for accountability.
