Prioritizing time to slow down and lean in to receiving is a flex in a world that has us constantly on the go-go-go. Receiving massage activates our parasympathetic nervous system to help us drop in to a state of deep calm. Reducing cortisol levels and boosting neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine throughout the body. Improving our mood, bringing relief to chronic pain and supporting muscle recovery by reducing inflammation, etc. Having a self-care routine matters. For the sake of our nervous system and for the longevity of our ability to keep on moving and grooving throughout life, we all deserve to be able to prioritize time for self-care. 🌀

Feeling good to be back in rhythm. It’s been a while since I posted last. It’s been heavy this winter for us all and I’m so looking forward to spring each day that brings us closer. I took step back for a bit from the work-side of social media to focus on taking care of my clients. Focusing on my other passions too to recalibrate how I want to balance my work life flow to prevent burnout. I want to make sure I stay on top of my physical and mental wellbeing so I can continue doing what I love to do.

Within trying to find that balance between work and life flow, I decided it was time to start a monthly newsletter as to not rely 100% on IG. So look out for an email this morning if you’re already on the list! I’ll be sending one out on the 2nd Monday of every month!

I love researching and continuing to learn so let’s talk about it in person too if you’re ever curious to talk more. I’m a nerd for this work. I have a deep passion for this work and it takes time for me to break up, organize and condense the information so it’s digestible.****

Curious about abdominal massage and how might it be beneficial to target during your next massage?

Using a special draping technique, moving slowly and intentionally. Because, instinctively the tension we experience from life is held in our gut and it is a sensitive region for most of us. Massaging the abdomen requires trust, and sometimes seeing how it looks is helpful to visualize it to feel safe to receive. Shout out to my client for her help, she gave me permission to take some photos + videos for educational use.

Massaging the abdominal region gives access to target the anterior side of our hip flexors and our psoas/iliopsoas muscles. Benefiting our range of motion by maintaining our flexibility and core strength for the sake of the health of our posture.

There’s so much more to talk about on this subject, so let’s take it slow and start here.

Taking accountability for our health + wellbeing by diving into self-care, is necessary to keep our mobility as we age. But, we don’t have to be so hard on ourselves. Life is busy, deeply complex that sometimes it can feel utterly overwhelming to always be 100% on top of our self-care routine.

So, what would happen if you allowed yourself the nuance + grace to allow your humanity to flow so you can show up for yourself regardless?

All that matters is that we try to do the best we can to keep on. Self-care is not a luxury, this is for the sake of our wellbeing to keep on being. Especially as we age🌀

For the sake of the longevity of our ability to keep our mobility, we all deserve an hour or two to unwind. To tend to our physical and subtle body without second guessing our worth to receive massage therapy,to dive into any form of self-care that feels beneficial for us. Having a self-care practice even if it looks different weekly/monthly, is a powerful act of self-love.🌀

Taking care of ourselves is self-preservation, it’s a powerful act to help support our physical and mental wellbeing. Getting consistent with our self-care routine supports our ability to regulate our nervous system.

Whether that’s booking your massage, reiki session, chiropractor and/or acupuncture monthly. Maybe going on a weekly routine meditative walk, or sitting with a cup of tea or water before you start and/or end your day. Anything that helps you support your flow, you state of being through this uncertainty is a powerful act of self-love. 🌀

No shade allowed here in 2026 and beyond, because enough is enough. I had a conversation with a client about how every LMT has their own unique style and technique and that no massage is the same.

One major thing I learned at .official in 2012 from Diane my former teacher was: “Not everyone will like your massage.” You wouldn’t think it would be but it was the most powerful and liberating lesson that has helped me morph into the massage therapist that I wanted to grow into.

Your clients who align with your flow will find you, and when they don’t that’s when we help each other out and refer clients to other fellow LMTs who could help. We should be educating our clients that not every massage therapist is the same and that there’s no need to shame. We’re all here to do the same thing, to serve our community doing what we love and there’s a massage therapist out there for everyone. We can’t ever forget we’re all in this together. 🌀

Everyone flows differently, what may align for you when it comes to the way you take of your physical and spiritual wellbeing may not align with everyone else.
We’re human, sometimes we get lost in another persons journey.

So, ask yourself.
What about your journey?
Breathe in deeply and exhale slowly.
Take pause and just notice your state of being.

Where do you notice the tension building?
Closing your eyes, what would feel good for you?

However you want/need to take care of yourself. Whether it be booking yourself a massage, practicing yoga, going on a walking meditation, going to the gym or sitting in stillness because you’re just constantly on the go.

In whatever way you take care of yourself, that feels best for you. For the sake of our muscles, the fascia that holds us together, we need bodywork just like cars to keep on. We are not machines of course, but the longevity of our mobility matters, especially as we age.

However this resonates for you, whatever comes to mind for self-care. Never doubt that you do deserve the opportunity to dive-in and tend to your wellbeing. Everyone’s journey is unique and just as complex as the next. 🌀
