We are deeply saddened to share the passing of William Curley, who recently served on our Board of Trustee. Although his time on the board was brief, his impact was truly meaningful. William brought thoughtful insight, dedication, and a genuine commitment to our mission and community, and his contributions will not be forgotten.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed.
William Curley
December 9, 1945 — February 4, 2026
William Curley, a distinguished attorney, passed away on February 4, 2026, in Newcastle, Wyoming, at the age of 80. Born on December 9, 1945, in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Nadine and William Curley. William dedicated 39 years of his life to the legal profession, achieving a profound impact in his field.
William's academic journey was marked by notable achievements. He earned his Master's degree from the University of Tennessee in 1972, furthering his pursuit of knowledge with a PhD in Law from the University of Wyoming, completed in 1986. His commitment to education shaped not only his career but also his passion for legal research and philosophy.
Outside of his professional life, William was known for his varied interests and hobbies. He enjoyed woodworking, often spending time tinkering in his garage, and found great joy in gardening. These activities served as a testament to his creative spirit and love for hands-on projects.
William leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Linda Curley. He is survived by his children: William H. Curley IV (Deb), Jessica Mendloff (Barry), Chrystal Gates (Jeff), Eric Ambroz (Chelsea), and JD Dyakanof (Jessica). Additionally, he is survived by his siblings: Joann Kerner (Bruce), Nadine Schwab (Jack), and Val Curley, and Charles Curley. 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Curley Jr. and Nadine DuVal Barlow. William's legacy as a dedicated attorney, an enthusiastic gardener, and a family man will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His contributions to the legal community and the love he offered to his family will endure in the memories shared by those he touched throughout his life.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and William will be inurned at the Iowa Valley Cemetery.
