🌟Meet our Wellness Director- Sallyann Kaetu-Smith🌟

From an early age, I was drawn to the kitchen and once envisioned a career as a chef. However, my path took an unexpected turn when I began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). What started as a temporary role quickly became a calling as I discovered a deep passion for caregiving and the meaningful relationships built through patient care.

After five years working as both a CNA and Medication Technician, I pursued nursing school and began my career as a licensed nurse. Over the past sixteen years, I have remained dedicated to providing compassionate care, with a special focus on serving seniors. Supporting their well-being, preserving their dignity, and learning from their life experiences has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.

To broaden my impact in healthcare, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and later a Master of Public Health, strengthening my understanding of healthcare systems, leadership, and disease prevention. Despite exploring multiple facets of healthcare, my passion has always remained rooted in nursing and the meaningful human connections formed at the bedside.

Nursing is more than a profession for me—it is a purpose. I am deeply committed to delivering compassionate care and making a positive difference in the lives of those I serve.

Marie has been a valued part of the Regency Newcastle community for over a year and a half. She first joined the team as our friendly receptionist, warmly welcoming residents, families, and visitors each day. In December of last year, Marie transitioned into the Business Office, where she continues to support our residents and team with dedication and care.

“With over 30 years of culinary experience, I am a certified chef trained at the International Cooking School in Lima, Peru. Fluent in both Spanish and English, I have built a diverse career working in five-star restaurants, retirement communities, and large corporate environments, including Microsoft. I have successfully catered events for more than 1,200 guests, consistently delivering high-quality cuisine while maintaining strong organization, efficiency, and attention to detail.

Originally from Peru, I served four years in the Peruvian Marines before moving to the United States in 1998. Since then, Seattle has been my home, where I have continued to grow my culinary career and passion for hospitality.

Outside the kitchen, I enjoy watching the Seattle Sounders, attending live music, and spending time outdoors with my son, who is a music teacher and plays in a rock band.”

Kim joined the Regency team in August 2024, starting as a Med Tech before stepping into her role as our Resident Care Coordinator. Since day one, she has been an essential part of our team, supporting both residents and care staff with incredible compassion and dedication.

What truly stands out about Kim is her genuine love for building relationships with our residents. She takes the time to listen to their life stories and experiences, creating meaningful connections that make our community feel even more like home.
