Bee Nourished is a healthy living and weight-loss initiative founded by certified health coach (IIN), Aayah Khalaf, that transforms women and especially mother’s lives through personalized health coaching programs. While on her own weight loss and health journey Aayah experienced many of the same stresses, women, especially mothers, regularly suffer from. The extreme dieting, the impractical changes demanded of her lifestyle, the lack of personalization to her specific needs as a mother; many of the programs that promised her results were just not working. Her frustration with this reality motivated her to go back to school and learn for herself what it means to live a truly healthy life. In her time at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, she was trained in over 100 dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods. After implementing all that she learned and seeing the incredible results, she could not help but share this knowledge with others who regularly struggle with the same. Drawing on a mixture of knowledge, expertise, and empathy Aayah helps women reach their health and weight loss goals through completely personalized “roadmaps to health” that suit their needs, cater to their bodies, and fit neatly into their life without sacrificing duties like motherhood. A day when duʿā’ (supplication) is answered, a day to pour your heart out to Allah.

Another Reason to Boycott Starbucks 🍵
I generally don't trust big corporations, and I rarely go to Starbucks. However, I found myself a couple of times in a situation where I had to order matcha outside and tried Starbucks (before the boycott).

I always asked Starbucks to skip the sugar and flavors. They would tell me, "The mix has just a little bit of sugar that we can't remove," and I thought, "It's just an occasional drink; what's the big deal?" Silly me.

Today, I finally decided to check the nutrition facts, and to my shock, a grande almond milk matcha latte has 21 grams of sugar. Do you know how much that is? Five teaspoons of sugar! 🙆‍

That's more than the amount of sugar I consume in a week. The biggest problem is that it's hidden sugar. I was drinking it, thinking I was doing myself good, so I wasn't being extra careful with my portions or frequency.

Drinking our sugar is the worst thing we can do to our bodies because it is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, causing huge spikes and dips in our blood sugar, negatively affecting our weight and energy.

Let's take a minute now and Google the nutrition facts of your favorite Starbucks drinks and share them in the comments. Check for:
✓ The three main ingredients
✓ How much added sugars
✓ How many total calories

Don't let companies dictate what you eat and drink out of ignorance. Educate yourself and make informed decisions. For now, goodbye to my Starbucks matcha drink and back to making it at home!

🌞 Not sure what to cook with this summer heat? Try one of my favorite summer salads! 🥗

Ingredients:

2 cups sunflower sprouts 🌻
½ cup chopped cilantro 🌿
2 cucumbers 🥒
1 apple 🍏
2 sticks celery 🥬
Dressing:

4 tbsp olive oil 🫒
2 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar 🍎
2 tbsp raw honey 🍯
1 tsp Dijon mustard
Instructions:
1️⃣ Chop the cucumber, celery, and apple into cubes.
2️⃣ Chop the cilantro and mix the dressing ingredients in a jar.
3️⃣ Assemble everything in a bowl with the sunflower sprouts and pour the dressing right before serving.

Enjoy this refreshing and healthy salad! 🌱✨

🌱 Bean-Based Pasta: Healthy or Not? 🌱

Bean-based pasta has been a health trend in the last year or so. Let's explore whether it's truly healthy or not!

HEALTHY:

The first ingredient is chickpeas, a whole bean 👏🏻
Dietary fiber: 5g, great! 🎈
13g of protein per serving! Super ✓
No sugars, additives, or weird ingredients 🎉
NOT HEALTHY:

Heaping 32g of carbs per serving! That could be too much for those who are weight-conscious.
Tapioca starch is the second ingredient; it's basically a starchy flour with no fiber, mostly carbs!
Pea protein is not exactly a natural whole food but a highly processed form of protein.
Beans are best consumed after soaking for 12 hours and cooking very well. Consuming beans in the form of flour or pasta can cause digestive distress for some people.
So, is it healthy or not? It really depends on your goals and what "healthy" means to you. I would consider it a healthier alternative to regular white pasta, but not necessarily a superfood or something I would indulge in without worrying about my portions.
