We’ve been cleaning this massive office for a while now, and when we first did the estimate, we gave them an honest breakdown of what it would take to clean and maintain the space properly. Unfortunately, it was over their budget — but because we wanted to earn their business, we agreed to work within what they could afford.
That meant alternating certain areas on different days, prioritizing the most used spaces, and doing our absolute best to deliver quality service with the time allowed.
The first week was intense. It took several days — and multiple cleaners — just to bring that office back down to maintenance level. It had been neglected for a long time, but by the end, the transformation was huge. The manager was very happy and has always been kind and respectful when communicating any feedback, which we deeply appreciate.
But of course, as with many large offices, there are always multiple people giving opinions. And that’s where things can get tricky.
We started getting small notes like, “One trash can was missed,” or, “The toilet paper wasn’t refilled all the way,” or, “A little corner of the floor looked dusty.” Nothing major — just small things. But sometimes, those small things can make it feel like all the big work being done throughout the entire building isn’t being noticed.
I think many times, people don’t realize the amount of work that goes into maintaining a large space — especially after years of neglect. Yes, it’s our job to clean and meet a checklist, but real life isn’t always that simple.
We’ve improved the overall condition dramatically compared to how it used to be. The desks, counters, and floors are consistently cleaner, and our team has put in a ton of effort to keep it that way — within a limited schedule and budget.
Then came the comment that sparked this post:
“The carpets downstairs don’t look like they’ve been vacuumed.”
Now, this area happens to be the one that gets the most foot traffic from the warehouse. And my cleaners always tell me how little consideration some of the warehouse staff have — they spill, drop things, track in dirt, and rarely clean up after themselves. It’s frustrating because they treat the space like there’s a full-time cleaning crew on-site 24/7, when in reality, we come once per day.
So when I asked my cleaner about the carpets, he told me that he had vacuumed thoroughly — but that the carpets were just heavily stained from years of wear. No amount of vacuuming would make them look “brand new.”
To show me, he actually went out of his way to record a full before-and-after video, vacuuming every inch to prove that the carpets are clean — they just need professional washing.
And honestly, that meant a lot to me. Because it shows how much pride he takes in his work, even when others might overlook it.
That’s what inspired me to share this video — not to complain, but to shine a light on something important:
Sometimes, cleaners are doing incredible work under tight budgets and time limits. And even when everything can’t be perfect, the effort and care are still there — every single day.
So this is just a gentle reminder for everyone who has cleaning staff — whether at home or in an office — to show kindness and consideration. Feedback is always welcome, but appreciation goes a long way too.
Because behind every “missed trash can” or “not-so-perfect carpet,” there’s a hardworking person doing their best to make your space better — even when the budget doesn’t match the expectations. 💛
We’re not just cleaning — we’re caring. And sometimes, that’s worth noticing. ✨
