We all have expectations about how things will turn out. When life doesn’t go to plan, it can be hard to reconcile the disappointment of our new reality.

We’re constantly thinking about the needs of our kids. We manage the day-to-day—not because we’ve been asked to do so, but because this is who we are. The mental load typically falls on the mother. Do you ever think “it would be harder to leave and have to tell someone EVERYTHING I do...so I rather not go anywhere...”?

We keep things running smoothly because we are the knower of all things. We keep running lists in our brains of things that need to be replaced, appointments, and the mundane. It’s a heavy load to carry.

Do you carry the mental load in your home? What are some of the things you do that are “invisible?”

This is true in grief and in life. Our listening presence is the greatest gift we can give another. Even if it’s just on the phone, FaceTime, zoom or Skype. So many times we try to fix the other or the situation. Or someone tries to fix us. Anyone try to fix you, when you just needed them to listen?
