We’re proud to share some exciting news from Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

You're Hometown Funeral Directors are ready to serve:

Please join us in welcoming back Bruce Shomaker, an Avery County native and a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with over 40 years of experience. Bruce is returning home to serve the community he knows and loves, and we are honored to have him back as part of our team.

We’re also grateful to share that progress continues on the rebuilding of our facility following the devastation caused by Helene. While the journey hasn’t been easy, we remain committed to restoring a space that will continue to serve Avery County families with care, compassion, and dignity.

Support matters—especially during life’s most difficult moments. 💜

Grief can feel overwhelming, but no one should have to walk through it alone. Whether it comes from family, friends, neighbors, or caring professionals, having a support system can bring comfort, strength, and healing when it’s needed most.

At our funeral home, we believe being present, listening, and guiding families with compassion is just as important as the services we provide. Because sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is simply being there.

If you or someone you know is navigating loss, please remember: support matters. You are not alone.
