✨The Ramp Family✨

I don’t always post birth stories any more, but this one… oh I just HAVE to🩶

Somer has been one of my clients for a while, we signed on together when she was 20 weeks, it has been so lovely to get to know her and her family.

This sweet babe threw us all for a loop with her late arrival and much longer labor then this mama was used to with her other babies. Somer toughed through labor for 24 hours!🫣

This mama’s goal was to have a completely unmediated and low intervention birth from start to finish, with such courage (and education) she declined nearly everything after arriving to the hospital. She trusted her body & ended up delivering her own baby in her labor and delivery room🥹

She was so incredibly strong & she knew what she needed to do & trusted her body to deliver her baby. I am constantly amazed by these mamas & I am constantly reminded as to why I chose this profession. Man do I love it🥹🩶

Welcome to the world sweet baby girl!💗

👉🏼 If you choose to be checked, this is what your team is looking for!

‼️CERVICAL CHECKS ARE OPTIONAL‼️ But if you decide to have your cervix evaluated, these are the things that will determine how close your baby is to being delivered.

1️⃣ CERVICAL DILATION- measured from 0-10 cm.
2️⃣ EFFACEMENT- measured from 0%-100%.
3️⃣ STATION OF BABY- measured from -3 to +3.

👉🏼 everyone progresses at different rates. Each one of these steps take time and effort to complete & each one is worth being celebrated!

👉🏼These signs of labor are some of the most common ones to watch out for!

🤰🏽Water breaking- pretty clear sign of the beginning of labor… your baby is really to meet you!

🤰🏽Contractions- another clear sign of labor. Consistent, timely and painful contractions are definitely a sign of labor!

🤰🏽 Bloody show- noticing blood mixed with mucus around your due date can be a huge indicator that you will go into labor typically within 24-48 hours.

🤰🏽Lightening/baby dropping- baby dropping into your pelvis is a great indicator that labor is just right around the corner!

A few words of advice for you!👇🏼

🧘🏼‍♀️Trust your body & your baby. Labor and delivery can be a scary thing, but it doesn’t have to be! Be ready and equipped for the labor and delivery experience, know what to expect and know how to be prepared to the best of your ability.

You got this mama!🤍🤍

🤰🏽Be sure to do these things while in labor👇🏼

🤗These three techniques will most definitely help you while in labor, whether that is labor, progression delivery, or management of pain.

🚶🏼‍♀️1. MOVEMENT: allowing motion during labor will not only allow pain management, but also help labor to progress.

👶🏼2. SPINNING BABIES: if you haven’t heard of this already, please look up spinning babies on YouTube or Google. Know these exercises and start doing them around 36 weeks! These movements help baby to get into the right position and help with labor progression!

🧘🏼‍♀️3. BREATHING EXERCISES: you can start breathing exercises as early in pregnancy as you would like. Teaching your brain to stay in control is one of the best ways to ensure a successful labor and delivery. It is so important to stay in control of the pain while you were in labor!

✨The Teti Family✨

Words cannot even begin to describe how absolutely amazing this birth was. Evelyn, prior to delivery was dealing with such prodromal labor & this little boy was messing with everyone🫣 With such strength and endurance, she brought her baby boy into the world. She trusted her body and trusted her baby. She allowed her instincts to kick in & she delivered her beautiful baby boy on January 12th 6:17pm.

Congratulations Teti family, this little boy is beyond lucky to have you both!🤍

👉🏼 No matter how many times I assist in deliveries, it never ceases to amaze me just how strong & powerful a woman’s body is… never doubt yourself mamas!🤍

Keep this in mind, support people!👇🏼🫡

‼️ “Just relax” is about the WORST thing you can say to a laboring mama! Instead, say these things!

1️⃣ “Drop those shoulders”
2️⃣ “Melt your body”
3️⃣ “Unclench your jaw”
4️⃣ “Surrender to the contraction”

👉🏼 These sayings are essentially a more gentle way of encouraging relaxation. Although by using these phrases, these are actual motions or actions that are very specific and may be easier for a laboring mother to focus on during labor, instead of just trying to “relax”!

👇🏼 A few things you won’t live without!

🏥 it comes to packing a bag for a labor and delivery hospital stay. It is so important to make sure that you have everything you need to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay at the hospital after having your baby!👶🏼

🧳 Listed above are a few things that I personally could not have lived without and I now recommend these things to ALL of my doula clients!

🤨 did you pack anything in your hospital bag that you could have not lived without?! COMMENT BELOW!👇🏼

👉🏼 Did you know this was possible?!🥛

🥛Colostrum is essentially the liquid gold that is present prior to your breast milk coming in. Colostrum is a thicker, more dark colored, sweet liquid that is PACKED with nutrients and antibodies!🦠

🥛 Some people tend to “leak” earlier in pregnancy than others, for some, they never have anything come out until after baby is born. For those of us who have some early leakage, consider yourself lucky! (Or not)🤪 But your colostrum can do some amazing things for baby & if you’re able to catch that good stuff and freeze it, I encourage you to do so!💪🏼💛

✨The Martin’s✨

This absolutely amazing mama gave birth to their beautiful baby boy earlier this week & I had the honor of being there to support them.

Melinda has been my longest client thus far, contacting me for doula support at 10 weeks pregnant🥹 So this family quickly became more of friends than clients. Being apart of this birth was incredibly special to me.

This mama labored and brought her baby into the world with such incredible strength and perseverance. She showed the love of a mother in so many ways. She relied on the lord for strength the whole way through & her baby was born in love on December 27th @2:35pm.

Josh & Melinda make the perfect team. Calvin, you are so incredibly loved little boy🤍 Congratulations Martin Family on your sweet, new addition✨🤍

Just reading up on how essential oils can help a laboring mama!📖

👉🏼 This is something I really take pride in as a birth doula. Essential oils can not only decrease your time in labor & help with pain relief techniques, but can help to make your labor and delivery experience more enjoyable all together.

👉🏼 Different oils have different properties and those different properties do different things to help your labor progress or even help to kick start labor. I have seen success in the use of oils to do anything from induce labor, help a stalled labor or even help a mama with postpartum depression!

⁉️comment below… What is your favorite essential oil and why?!⁉️
