Won’t be me! This is just one of the reasons I will lift heavy weights and eat well. Yall with me?

Fun fact: I prefer skin cancer surgeries to cysts and lipomas.

Yesterday was an all skin cancer excision surgery day.

Took home way more than I should’ve. Here are my product highlights from the American Academy of Dermatology meeting this year…

What product from this haul would you love to have?

I’m doing a double-cleanse with a cleansing balm 1st, then following with a foaming cleanser to remove professional makeup.

Common Mistakes
1. Not cleansing the skin before bed. You’ve touched God knows what & have been exposed to many environmental factors that are aging your skin.

2. Using bar soap on the face (I don’t mean a syndet or bar cleanser). These are likely stripping your skin barrier.

3. Not cleansing because you don’t know what to use. A good start is a foaming hydrating cleanser which works well for most skin types.

4. Using several cleansers with the same ingredients. READ THE LABEL because you might be buying face wash that all have salicylic acid in it. Know the active ingredient.

5. Expensive is best. NOT! For my acne, sensitive skin and perimenopausal patients I’m most often going to suggest a cleanser that you can find at the drugstore or big box store. And I’ll probably have coupons for you.

6. Not appropriately double-cleansing. Use the oily cleanser first on dry skin (makeup removing balm, oil cleanser, micellar water, makeup wipes) & add water once you’ve emulsified it THEN follow-up with a water-based, cleanser to remove any remnants.

This is technically not a dermatology-only disease. The underlying leg edema and vein disease need to be addressed for the “rash” to clear. Share this with a loved one or a fellow doctor who this could be useful to.

If you don’t have itchy, dry, or eczema-prone skin then carry on. After a shower you shouldn’t feel like your skin is squeaky-clean or have the sensation that your skin is encased in a cast or plaster. Those sensations means your skin is begging for moisture. I know you grew up using some of these or ya mama told you these were best but it’s time to make a change.

You can screenshot these products or go to my page to shop. (I’ll link ShopMy in stories)

1. Topical minoxidil (I’ll link in story). I like this one with the brush attached so I don’t have to touch the product & risking getting it on my face.
2. One of the smartest derms I know helped create these so head to her page to buy them. Or stop by my Stockbridge office.
3. The hardest part about having TE is trying not to stress out about it because added stressors will allow the shedding to continue.

They were really onto something when they said it takes 2 years postpartum to feel normal again. I feel like this year I remembered who TF I am and found out how to balance all the hats I wear.

Not derm related but this air compressor is a must for every vehicle so I’m sharing. I’ll link mine in my story.

The one I have tests the pressure and automatically fills it to your preset pressure. And it was easy to use without reading the instructions. I wouldn’t be caught filing at a gas station these days bc it’s sketchy out here.
