Coweta Samaritan Clinic

Coweta Samaritan Clinic Coweta Samaritan Clinic offers free medical care to uninsured Coweta County adult residents. The Clinic began treating patients on October 5, 2011.

Coweta Samaritan Clinic arose from Dr. Kay Crosby’s calling to create a medical home for uninsured and medically underserved adults in Coweta County. After twenty years practicing internal medicine, Kay left her private practice in 2008 to bring a free clinic to her hometown of Newnan, Georgia. Generous support from the Coweta County Hospital Authority (building lease), Newnan Hospital Foundation (annual operating funds), and Piedmont Newnan Hospital (free lab and basic radiology services) provided a solid foundation on which to build. Since then, the Clinic has provided care through nearly 34,000 patient visits (as of 6/30/23), in addition to care provided in volunteer offices/clinics throughout Coweta County and beyond. With the exception of three full-time and seven part-time employees, all medical care and office support is provided by volunteers. In addition, many kind and skilled specialists in the community treat clinic patients without charge in their offices. We exist because of philanthropic support. We want to extend our sincere thanks to the Newnan Police Department for their diligent work investigating a coordinated check fraud scheme that has impacted several local businesses and nonprofits, including Coweta Samaritan Clinic.

We are grateful for their persistence and professionalism in protecting our community and holding those responsible accountable.

This investigation serves as an important reminder for all individuals and organizations to be cautious when handling and mailing checks and to closely monitor financial accounts.

We also want to reassure our supporters that Coweta Samaritan Clinic takes the stewardship of donated funds very seriously. We have safeguards and financial controls in place to ensure the resources entrusted to us are handled securely and used responsibly to care for our neighbors in need.

As an organization that relies entirely on private donor support to fulfill our mission, your trust means everything to us. We are deeply grateful for our community’s continued confidence and generosity.

Thank you for being part of our mission to provide compassionate, high-quality care to uninsured adults in Coweta County!

Authorities say at least $60,000 was stolen from local businesses and nonprofits as part of a metro Atlanta-based check fraud ring uncovered during a months-long investigation.

We’re so excited to share a new way we’re caring for our patients through healthy, home-grown nourishment!

Thanks to the generosity and creativity of Mrs. Pat Strain, wife of our volunteer gastroenterologist, Dr. Mike Strain, patients and caregivers will now enjoy monthly healthy cooking samplings at the Clinic! Using fresh produce from their garden, shelf-stable ingredients, and lots of love, Mrs. Pat will offer taste-tests and care packages with the recipe and all the “fixins” for patients to make each dish at home.

Today, patients enjoyed a delicious “Detox” Cabbage Soup with Turmeric and Ginger by The Mediterranean Dish. We encourage you to give this healthy and yummy recipe a try!

We are so grateful for the generosity of our community! In-kind donations of new or gently used coats and warm clothing, toiletries, food pantry items, new/unused medical supplies, and non-narcotic medications no more than one year past expiration make a difference for our patients, and we truly appreciate every one of those gifts given.

That said, we’ve recently seen an increase in items being dropped off that we are unable to use, including items that are damaged, dirty, non-working, or left outside the Clinic after hours. Unfortunately, when donations are left outdoors or include items we cannot safely distribute, we are unable to use them and must discard them.

We kindly ask that donations:
• Fall within the categories listed above
• Be clean, usable, and in good condition
• Be dropped off only during Clinic business hours

Thank you for understanding, and thank you for continuing to love our neighbors so well!

🥘❤️ LOOK at this incredible generosity! ❤️🥘

Because of the creativity and heart of the Evans Middle School PTO and the many families who supported their casserole fundraiser, our Clinic received nearly 30 donated casseroles to share with our patients!

These delicious Life of the South Catering casseroles will allow us to bless our patients and their families with warm, comforting meals throughout these chilly winter months...a tangible reminder that our community cares deeply for them!

To the Evans Middle School PTO: thank you for such a thoughtful and impactful idea and for choosing to partner with the Coweta Samaritan Clinic. And to everyone who purchased and donated a casserole: your kindness will be felt far beyond today.

Thanks so much, everyone!

We are so grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their faithful annual support of the Coweta Samaritan Clinic! Thanks to proceeds from their annual golf tournament, the Knights recently presented us with a wonderful $1,500 contribution to help care for our uninsured neighbors.

We loved welcoming David Keller and Felix Serret for a visit and tour of the Clinic and having the opportunity to share firsthand how the Knights of Columbus’ continued generosity makes a difference in the lives of our patients. Their commitment to service and compassion embodies the spirit of community we are so blessed to experience here!

Thank you, Knights of Columbus, for standing with us year after year and helping us provide high-quality, compassionate care to those in need in Coweta County!

Newnan Kiwanis recently hosted its annual grant award distribution dinner, where we were among nearly 60 other local nonprofit organizations who were blessed with grant awards by this wonderful civic group! Newnan Kiwanis has organized and hosted the Coweta County Fair for years, and proceeds from this annual event impact organizations like ours who make our community the incredible place it is! Thank you so, so much, Newnan Kiwanis friends, and thanks to all of the grant recipients for everything you do for Coweta County!

The Newnan Kiwanis Club distributed a record $300,000 in grants, scholarships, sponsorships and community support Tuesday night, the largest single-year investment the club has ever made back into Coweta County.

The milestone was made possible by a banner year at the Coweta County Fair, which generated unprecedented revenue for the civic club and allowed Kiwanis to fund 58 organizations, also a new record.

Since moving to the current fairgrounds in 2000, the club has now returned more than $5.7 million to the community through grants and other charitable programs.

Our Story

Coweta Samaritan Clinic (CSC) arose from Dr. CSC began treating patients in October 2011. Since then the clinic’s patient base has grown to more than 950 individuals and volunteer healthcare professionals have conducted more than 8,000 patient visits. With the exception of three full-time and four part-time employees, all medical care and office support is provided by volunteers. More than 80 volunteers are active at the clinic and the value of service provided by volunteers in 2014 was nearly $300,000. That does not include the value of services provided by many kind and skilled specialists in the community who treat clinic patients without charge in their offices.
