At Eden, we offer third party reproduction services and the use of an egg donor. This allows an intended mother to fertilize donor eggs with her partner’s s***m or s***m from a s***m donor. The embryos are then created in the IVF laboratory, and can be transferred into the intended mother’s uterus. This option allows the intended mother to physically carry their baby, experience pregnancy, delivery and/or nursing their newborn. If the intended mother cannot carry the pregnancy, then a gestational carrier can be used to carry the pregnancy.

Eden Centers for Advanced Fertility Imaging Options:

Ultrasounds – An ultrasound is critical for a female fertility evaluation. Ultrasounds clearly display the reproductive organs (such as the uterus and ovaries). An ultrasound can assess an antral follicle count which helps assess a females ovarian reserve. It can also help diagnose fibroids which can affect female fertility or cause menstrual cycle abnormalities. Ultrasounds can also help physicians with the diagnosis of PCOS.

Sonohysterogram or Saline Infused Sonogram – A specialized ultrasound and procedure where a small catheter is inserted into the woman’s uterus to infuse saline and open up the uterus up temporarily like a balloon. This allows visualization of the uterine cavity (inside of the uterus) to identify any endometrial polyps, fibroids, or scar tissue within the uterus. This procedure and imaging study can also identify any congenital uterine abnormalities that can effect fertility or increase the risk of miscarriage.

Fertility Tip Friday

Both ovulation and subsequent implantation of the embryo are temperature dependent processes. You should avoid behaviors that can significantly affect body temperature like spas, Jacuzzis, hot tubs, infrared saunas, etc.... This is true for both women and men. Usually basal body temperature goes up one degree after ovulation this helps the embryo implant.

Women are most likely to get pregnant when you have s*x within a day or so of ovulation. This is usually about 14 days after the first day of your last period, if your cycle is around 28 days long. But, cycle lengths can vary from woman to woman, and therefore your ovulation day could be different. If you have questions about your menstrual cycle or ovulation, a fertility specialist can help you understand your body. All of our care is individualized because we know that our patients are unique.

Thinking about all the who are starting residency today, July 1st 2020. (It’s a particularly challenging year)

I remember how nervous I was to start my first day of OB/GYN residency at LAC + USC Medical Center. The excitement and fear were overwhelming. Being called a doctor was a privilege and I worked harder than ever to meet the expectations of my patients and to be a reliable colleague for my team.

Today, I think about the new interns, and their fears and anxieties....
This year in particular, it’s especially hard as they start their years of training in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s a different time with its own set of challenges.
Thinking of you all and wishing you nothing but success.
