Facial implants are not only used for reconstruction after injury or trauma. They can also be an option for patients who want to enhance their appearance in a personalized way. This case involved a handsome young man who wanted stronger jaw angle definition, and I was genuinely excited to create his custom implants and carry out the procedure.

One of my biggest passions in plastic surgery is the process itself. Taking the time to understand a patient’s vision, designing a truly custom implant, printing it in medical grade PEEK, and then placing it precisely through surgery. Standard silicone implants simply cannot match this level of accuracy or personalization.

There are many companies advertising creams, exosomes, and other topical treatments as if they can magically tighten excess skin. The truth is, excess skin cannot be tightened away. Topicals may improve the appearance of skin quality in a very minor way, but they do not remove or truly tighten loose skin.

As science and medicine stand today, the only way to address excess skin is through a surgical procedure.

Although it may not be the most beautiful sight in the office, the endoscope is a versatile and powerful tool in plastic surgery. It allows for precision, smaller incisions and a less invasive approach in the right cases.

Pico laser treatments are a great option for improving skin texture, pigmentation, and overall skin quality with minimal downtime. The ultra short pulses allow for precise treatment while being gentle on surrounding tissue and stimulating collagen.
It’s also commonly used for tattoo removal. The ultra short pulses break tattoo ink into very small particles that the body can clear more efficiently, often with fewer sessions compared to older lasers.

We often get questions about how Pico compares to IPL. Pico is typically better for texture, scarring, and collagen stimulation, while IPL is more effective for redness and sun damage. They are not competing treatments. In many cases, they complement each other well, and we offer both options in our Newport Beach office to tailor treatment plans to individual skin needs.

What matters most is how someone feels in their own skin and what has been bothering them over time. When a patient is healthy, expectations are realistic, and the plan is safe, age becomes far less important than individual anatomy and goals. Anesthesia Explained

There are a few different types of anesthesia, and understanding the difference helps set the right expectations.

• General anesthesia means you are fully asleep and unaware during surgery. This is typically used for longer or more involved procedures.
• Local anesthesia means the area is completely numbed while you are awake. Many in office procedures can be done this way safely and comfortably.
• IV sedation falls somewhere in between. You are very relaxed and drowsy, but not fully asleep. This is something we use selectively and not very often, depending on the case.

Choosing the right approach depends on the procedure, safety, and what makes the most sense for the patient.
