Stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability and death worldwide. Research shows that several major risk factors significantly increase stroke risk, including high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and diabetes. When these conditions occur together, they create a particularly high-risk profile for vascular disease.

Understanding how these factors affect the brain and blood vessels is essential for prevention and early intervention. This video explains the medical science behind stroke risk and outlines how neurologists evaluate and manage these conditions.

Many people worry that intense anger, stress, or emotional reactions may immediately increase their risk of stroke. In most cases, strong emotions alone do not cause a stroke.

Stroke risk is primarily influenced by long-term factors such as high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, diabetes, and vascular health. When these remain well controlled, occasional emotional stress is unlikely to pose significant danger.

This video explains how neurologists evaluate stroke risk and why consistent medical monitoring is more important than isolated emotional episodes.

Dr. Elahi is a board-certified neurologist with over 20 years of experience diagnosing and treating patients with various types of seizures including non-epileptic spells (PNES)

Dr. Elahi briefly discusses the treatment options for patients who are often frustrated with many in the medical field who are at a loss in this context. Many patients with PNES often feel dismissed and sometimes completely ignored.
TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and other non-pharmacological treatments often work well in this context. For more detailed information and/or consultation, please visit our website: https://neurospabrain.com/.

A recent study at Stanford University, entitled Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy for Treatment-Resistant Depression (SAINT-TRD) showed that when TMS was delivered in a more intensive schedule and accelerated pace, it provided remission (i.e. ‘cure’) from depression in greater than 90% of patients in as little as 3 to 5 days.
These results were published online April 7, 2020 in the American Journal of Psychiatry. A follow-up study published on October 29, 2021 in the American Journal of Psychiatry entitled Stanford Neuromodulation Therapy (SNT): A Double-Blind Randomized Controlled Trial confirmed these results and renamed the procedure from SAINT to SNT.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is performed while patients are fully awake and does not require anesthesia, sedation, or recovery time. The procedure is non-invasive and is conducted in a controlled clinical setting, allowing individuals to return to normal daily activities immediately after each session.

Safety and patient comfort are central to this approach, with protocols guided by established medical research and clinical standards. For those interested in understanding how this technology works and how treatment is delivered, detailed explanations are available on our website.

Targeted brain stimulation, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), is a non-invasive medical technique designed to support the brain networks involved in mood and thinking. By delivering precise magnetic pulses to specific areas, this method helps regulate underactive or dysregulated regions without medication or surgery.
For select patients, this approach may lead to meaningful improvement within a relatively short period of time, based on objective neurological findings. The procedure is performed while patients are awake and does not require anesthesia or recovery time.
Detailed explanations of how this technology works and how treatment is conducted are available on our website for those seeking a deeper understanding of the process.

Many symptoms labeled as “psychological” — including depression, anxiety, irritability, and poor concentration — are often linked to measurable changes in brain network function. Research in neuroscience has shown that disruptions in communication between specific regions can influence emotional regulation, cognitive performance, and behavioral responses.

Advanced diagnostic tools, including neuroimaging and electrophysiological assessments, allow clinicians to evaluate these networks objectively. In select patients, non-invasive neuromodulation techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) may be used to support more stable and efficient neural signaling.

By focusing on brain physiology rather than symptom labels alone, a neuroscience-based approach helps clarify underlying mechanisms and guide evidence-informed care planning aimed at improving long-term brain health.

Dr. Elahi briefly debunks a few myths and fallacies regarding use of technology to enhance effectiveness of TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) treatments.
These include the use of MRI navigation, the use of various TMS machines, and the availability of objective biomarkers to assess and guide treatment.
The use of MRI navigation has proven to help increase treatment success as shown via randomized controlled research studies.

Moreover, fallacies regarding the H-coil and its risks are also discussed. In addition, the use of objective imaging, including qEEG, has been essential in knowing how the brain responds (or if it does) to brain stimulation.
In short--yes, advances in technology and precision have greatly helped increase the likelihood of treatment success with TMS despite what some may suggest.

Non-epileptic seizures are real neurological events associated with measurable changes in brain activity, even when standard EEG testing does not show classic epileptic patterns. These episodes are not “faked” and should not be dismissed.

This video explains how neurologists evaluate these conditions and discuss evidence-based approaches to diagnosis and care.

Because every brain functions differently, effective treatment requires individualized evaluation and precise targeting. Advanced transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) protocols are guided by neuroimaging, electrophysiological data, and current research to address each patient’s specific patterns of brain network activity.

This precision-based approach, directed by a board-certified neurologist, emphasizes safety, accuracy, and evidence-based practice.
