Emotional intimacy is sharing your truth with those you love, and receiving another’s truth with love. Our ability to contain and regulate our own responses, without judgment or advice giving, helps foster emotionally safety and vulnerability, which makes it easier to share what’s in our hearts and heads with others.

This requires knowing ourselves well, and being able to regulate our feelings and responses, which takes conscious effort and practice.

Therapy can help us know our fears and triggers, which often stand in the way of hearing another’s truth with love, and learn to regulate our own unpredictable feelings that arise.

By getting closer to ourselves, we are able to get closer to others, which create more love in our lives and in the world, and who doesn’t want more of that?

Giving and receiving love can be our life focus. Why? Because it is what we are born for, and we feel fulfilled when we show all the love we have regardless of how others respond or act towards us. This is a spiritual practice- and a much better alternative to showing love only to those who love us back, or in order to receive it.

Lean into mature love. We need it and you❤️
