Lateral Collateral Ligament
The LCL or Lateral Collateral Ligament is the stabilizer of the outside of the knee. It is like a thick strong rubber band, but as most people get bow legged as they get older, this rubber band slowly becomes stretched. Sometimes this ligament can get injured itself, but even if it's just a little stretched and not necessarily painful, the resultant instability can cause the inside of the knee to hurt. π’π©
With careful image-guided injection of orthobiologics around this ligament, it can help strengthen and improve the stability of the knee.
π₯ This video demonstrates ultrasound-guided injection (arrow) of PRP (black) around the LCL fibers going from the fibula lower leg bone to the femur thigh bone. π
